Hello all,
SS http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key= ... haXc&hl=en (I did test this am, just forgot to log it.. He was 250 something.)
Slashy has had a constipation issue for quite some time. Been on lactulose for a while. 3ml twice a day. Was not working, at least not well. After consulting w/ the Vet late last week we tried adding metamucil. Started last Friday evening. Took him off the lactulose at the same time. Saturday afternoon I saw him really straining to go (to no avail) and got afraid the lactulose was the only reason he was able to go at all. So, went out and got some but cut the does to 1.5 ml 2xs per day. Kept him on the metamucil.. Just shy of 1/2 a teaspoon 2x's per day. I have always added water to all his meals but increased the amount at metamucil/dinner time.
Saturday evening I did see him go.. he struggled, it was big and hard - no change. Next time I saw him go, Monday AM, he did not struggle. It was very large.. 5-6 inches long and about as thick as a quarter however it was quite soft.
So we have staid the course on that pattern. His amps and pmps have been sneaking down since we started. And, I think he is feeling better.. being more friendly and affectionate anyway.
I am just looking for thoughts/opinions.
Thank you!
Rick
