It's been so long since I have posted, but this board saved Shadow's life more than once and enabled him to live 10 long years as a feline diabetic. I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. Most of those who I knew on the board are long gone, although I still see some names that are familiar.
At over 20 years old, the road has come to an end. To give heart to everyone who has an unregulated cat - Shadow's diabetes journey was largely unregulated no matter what I did - and he still lasted 10 years and it was lymphoma not diabetes that eventually claimed him.
His legacy was to help coordinate the use of the color-coded spreadsheet because I desperately needed an easy way to track what was going on with him. To those of you with diabetic cats - the road can be rough at times, but hang in there, cats with diabetes can live long, meaningful lives.
Most of all - to caregivers - do the best you can and give yourselves kudos, don't be hard on yourselves and remember to just love your cat - don't get too caught up in the disease.
