Hello! I have read through so many helpful posts and replies in this forum already and I hope you can help with my question. My cat Triskett was diagnosed in January this year and I have been giving him Lantus since then. When he was first diagnosed my vet said there was no need to do home testing. He has still been losing weight and my vet tells me he is insulin resistant and may be Acro. I have made the decision to start testing him based on all of the information I have read on this forum and also seeing my baby suffer because of this illness.
When I first started the Lantus insulin in January, we started at a dose of .5u ever 12 hours. He is now up to 1.5u every 12 hours and has been for at least 2 months. I have never seen any kind of symptom of hypo with him on this dose and he still continues to have PD and PU. I want to use the SLGS method after I start testing. Would I start with this 1.5u dose since I already know he is doing okay on it or would I drop down to .5u and start from the beginning like the instruction post says?
Thank you for your help and sharing your experience!
