Good! What a roller coaster.
20-30 is good. Wait on the sweets. We’re setting timer for 20 again, right?
10 minutes, or 20? I dread the numbers now. But I still hope. Each number takes my emotions along with it. But we are keeping steady here. Just really exhausted.Keep scanning at regular intervals.
Well, you can scan as much as you like, but you may be tormenting yourself. Do you want to try and see if he will eat LC food again - the Ff that he likes? With a little honey? Then do 20?10 minutes, or 20? I dread the numbers now. But I still hope. Each number takes my emotions along with it. But we are keeping steady here. Just really exhausted.
We can wait 9 minutesIt’s 9 minutes til the 20 minutes after the last reading. After that, we can try to feed him ff. We can add honey, or I can shoot it down him again. He does hate that. But maybe more chance of him eating food without honey? Not sure at this point.
Ok let’s wait and see what the next BG isIt’s 9 minutes til the 20 minutes after the last reading. After that, we can try to feed him ff. We can add honey, or I can shoot it down him again. He does hate that. But maybe more chance of him eating food without honey? Not sure at this point.
Yes, that would be way easier. It is less that way, though.Ok let’s wait and see what the next BG is
Will he let you just rub some honey on his gums if we need more honey? I used to just rub it on the gums
Just repeat and rub more on.Yes, that would be way easier. It is less that way, though.
Woo hooo! Well done Team Merlin…way to go!Shall I feed him ff now and hold off on the honey? Or rub honey too
BG 8.3 …up from 7.8!
yes. Let’s see what he can do on Lc alone!Woo hooo! Well done Team Merlin…way to go!
I think maybe try the low carb and withhold the honey and test in 20
What do you think Suzanne?
Do you have one that is 10% or under you could try. If he won’t eat that, then give him the 13%OK! The ff we have that he likes is 13 percent carbs. Should we go for that, or a lower one he likes less?
I would test 20 minutes after the last test. We want to him early if he is going to drop lower again. If you leave it 20 mins from now, that will be 40 minutes after the last test.Ok. He ate pretty well. First some lower then some higher. We set a timer for 20
I think 20 minutes from the last test which must be almost up.20 minutes from now? Or is the time almost up?
I would test now then because we will get an idea if he is holding his own. And then again in 20/30 mins depending on the resultIt’s already been almost 30 since the last test, I think
Ok. Looks like the insulin might be starting to finally wear off.11.3!!!!!!
Exactly! Definitely high enough to wait 30 and if he’s still up then an hour. And hopefully you will be in the clear then!Ok. Looks like the insulin might be starting to finally wear off.
I think test in 30 and if it’s still up we can wait an hour without more food and see how it’s going .
what do you think Suzanne.??
We will need to wait 2 hours without any higher carb food or honey etc before we can say he is holding his own without food support thoughExactly! Definitely high enough to wait 30 and if he’s still up then an hour. And hopefully you will be in the clear then!
I think I recall that conversation. Wasn’t that yesterday?Remember how many hours ago you asked if you would have to stay up all night. And we said…. No… surely the insulin would be worn off by then!
Yes. Yesterday!I think I recall that conversation. Wasn’t that yesterday?![]()
Yes. So mark down the time that he finished eating so you will know when it has been two hours with no food. I think he finished eating about ten to fifteen minutes ago.We will need to wait 2 hours without any higher carb food or honey etc before we can say he is holding his own without food support though
We can hold out two more hours for sure. Now deciding whether or not to drink morning coffee. Dear husband is up nowWe will need to wait 2 hours without any higher carb food or honey etc before we can say he is holding his own without food support though

ECID so it’s hard to predict how long it will take and I’ve had some really long nights with cats that have been given too much insulin.Remember how many hours ago you asked if you would have to stay up all night. And we said…. No… surely the insulin would be worn off by then!
Yes, have a nice big mug of it to reward yourself. You deserve it!We can hold out two more hours for sure. Now deciding whether or not to drink morning coffee. Dear husband is up now![]()
Yes. It seems pretty incredible to me that it’s gone on this long.ECID so it’s hard to predict how long it will take and I’ve had some really long nights with cats that have been given too much insulin.
But I am wondering if the vet possible gave more than the 3.75 units of Lantus because this had been a long time for that amount of insulin to wear off..Maybe she misjudged the dose in the original syringe or maybe the syringe was not the equivocal a U40 syringe…….just wondering this…….
OK. We think he finished about 5:10 or so. Could have been 5. It’s getting a little surreal around here. So, we have a timer going now that will go off in 15 minutes for testing. Then we set again for 30?Yes. So mark down the time that he finished eating so you will know when it has been two hours with no food. I think he finished eating about ten to fifteen minutes ago.

It does my head in to try to figure out what happened. She definitely dosed him based on his weight, plus she used a U40 syringe. She told us to dose him 1.5 units on the U40.ECID so it’s hard to predict how long it will take and I’ve had some really long nights with cats that have been given too much insulin.
