First off, let me thank everyone for their sympathy wishes when Morris went to the RB 17 days ago...hard to believe it was only 18 days. I cried non-stop for the first 3 days and was really worried about it because I was getting more and more depressed each day...my life revolved around Morris and his shots and tests and without him I didn't know what to do with myself.

On the fourth day, a friend came to take me shopping and as I walked out of the house a little feral pregnant female cat ran up to me. We were going to stop by PetSmart and try to adopt at least one cat to take home with me, possibly more....but I had the little mama in the back of my mind. I ended up adopting a sweet little boy cat and decided to wait for the kitties for any more. Long sad story made short, the little boy cat ended up being very, very sick and I took him back in two days....I could not bear to have my heart broken a second time so soon.

So I started working on Mommacat, feeding her, petting her, made her a little bed in my golf cart with the plastic sides down so it stayed warmer. She started sleeping in the golf cart and was always there morning and night for food. The first time I enticed her into the screen porch and closed the door, she freaked out and climbed the screens...I had to let her back outside. I started leaving the door open and let her come in on her own. Then, this past Tuesday, I brought out the cage and set it up on the porch...it's a soft cage made of mesh and canvas and quite large. I put the towels and blanket that was in the golf cart into the cage and she went in and laid down. I closed the door.

I intended to keep her caged for awhile but within the same night, she was in the house...on her own she came in and explored and decided to stay. She is very tame and has already met two dogs, which she was not too happy about. I let her out on the screen porch during the day and she looks out so longingly and meows but she has to stay in now I tell her. Most of the time she is OK with it and when she has the kitties she will be too busy to notice for awhile anyway.

So here are some pictures of her...I named her Mommacat at first but now I have decided that the gray/black spot on top of her head looks like angel wings so she will be called Angel. Surely Morris sent her to me to ease my pain.

Dear Brenda, This is a lovely story. Too bad about the sick kitty, but in rescuing "Angel" you have done a wonderful thing. Our "Alice" came to us in much the same circumstances many years ago. She was on the street, abandoned, looked pregnant (she wasn't), and desperately wanted a home. We never knew how old she was, but she lived with us for 11 years and having a home mattered more to her than anything else. We wish you and Angel and her kittens all the best. Angel is a lucky kitty to have found you. Morris knew what to do!
Ella & Stu
P.S. When we adopted Stu and brought him home, the first thing he did was jump up on the piano, where there was a little box containing Alice's ashes and, next to it, one of her toy mice. Stu was very still for a moment as he sat next to the box. Then he took the mouse down on the floor and started to play with it. It was truly a passing of the torch.

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

oh she is just beautiful! And looks so comfortable in the house. what are you going to do with the kittens? Do you know how many she will have? Will you get her spayed afterwards?

Angel is a perfect name for this beauty.

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

thank you for sharing that story. Angel is beautiful! It's so hard to believe there are tiny little babies in that belly!

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

Passing of the torch indeed! God does work in mysterious ways and I truly do believe that little Angel was a work of God's and Morris's to help ease your pain as well :) Morris was so very happy with you and knows that there are so many kitties out there that need good homes with someone to love them...I think he just guided the right one to you(and his mouse). I have to stop or I'll cry. We've all been there

I'm so sorry for your loss but so happy for you and Angel to have found each other to love. Many many years of happiness to you both ♥

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

((Brenda))
What a wonderful, touching story. I do believe that our beloved kitties send us a kitty to love when they cross the Bridge. Whether it's immediate or a few months later, there is a need to fill the void they leave. Angel is a beauty. And it looks like she is as taken with you as you are with her. Please drop by and keep us up-dated with her progress and photos of her kittens.

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

Brenda,
I am so happy for you; I am so happy that Morris sent you an angel. I have been thinking of you and Morris every day, so this news brings me joy.

Angel looks like she will settle in just fine! What a gorgeous kitty! I love the pictures.
I hope all goes well with the kittens, will you be keeping any or too soon yet?

Ella, the mouse on the piano was incredible to hear.

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

Ella, that story made me cry, but this time they are good tears. Angel is so different from Morris, for one thing she loves to sleep in the bed and she is very calm for a feral cat, not jumpy at all. She is sitting on Morris' stool next to my computer right now.

I believe that Angel is just a baby herself, probably less than a year old. I will take her to the vet for an exam in the next day or so maybe. She can't have shots or deworming until the babies are weaned but my plan is to keep both Angel and at least 2 of the babies. I have a friend who has spoken for one already and I don't think they have all that many when they are strays...could be wrong though. They will all be spayed/neutered of course....wondering if I can get assistance from some place like SPCA to S/N and give them all shots? My vet will give an adopted pet, either cat or dog, an initial exam for free...total shock! That was how I found out that the first one I took in was not a keeper, and she even gave me some meds from a "donated supplies" box until I could take him back. Believe it or not, he got sick and wouldn't eat and started throwing up blood within the second day and already had diarrhea....I just had deja vu all over again and my vet said I didn't need to go through that again and she recommended to take him back and "get a healthy cat". So I did.

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

(((Brenda))) Angel is gorgeous, and those kittens will be so adorable!!
I'm so glad to see you, and to know you are keeping busy with the moma kitty.
We miss you lots, and hope to see you around often.

I hope you are doing well and many congrats on helping Angel, you truly are an angel yourself. Many (((hugs)))

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

Aww, Brenda, Morris did send you an angel!!! She is such a pretty girl, too! I wish you both loads of love and kisses!!

I'm sorry about your little fellow from Petsmart. I hope that whatever was wrong with him was able to be fixed...if not, I hope he had safe passage across the bridge...and i'm sure if that happend, Morris was there there great him.

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

What a lovely name you have picked for her!!! I am glad you were able to send us pictures! Please let us know how the vet visit goes once you get to that stage!!! Can't wait to see pics of the babies when they arrive!!

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

This just beautiful is so many ways. Beautiful that Morris sent you an Angel to love, beautiful that you saved a sweet homeless kitty and her babies, and beautiful that your heartbreak is starting to mend.

Finding Angel and getting her accustomed to being inside before her kittens are born is the best thing. If you hadn't found each other those kittens may not have survived outside and if she is a first time momma.... she might not have taken the right kind of care of them. I know... I've seen it happen. Bless Morris for guiding them all to you. (Ok, now I'm crying.....sniff.)

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

I knew about this momma cat for a few days, but Brenda wanted to make the announcement-
We are so so Happy that these 2 found each other and that Morris gave his approval from the Bridge..
Will be keeping tabs on Angel & will report her arrivals when they come..
Happy New Baby Brenda cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

Oh Brenda, Morris did send you an Angel. So very happy she is inside already! Those kittens will be so verra cute!

I too have happy tears. Mending of your broken heart, an Angel in your life and new life on the way. Wonderful!

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

She's a real cutie Brenda! Congratulations on finding each other. I hope she and her babies will fill up a little of that Morris sized hole in your heart. We will be waiting anxiously for photos when the babies are here!

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

I am so glad Morris sent you an Angel. I totally know what you mean about feeling lost. Sami is now in remission, but I previously had a cat who was on Sub-Q fluids and it felt really odd when I didn't have to administer fluids every night. Actually it feels odd that I don't have to test and shot Sami every night.

Angel will get lots of love and then the two of you will have babies to take care of. I know that will take up a lot of time.

Re: Morris Sent me an Angel (Photos Work Now)

((((Brenda)))) So wonderful when a kitty finds the fight bean. Angel knew you needed her as much as she needed you. cat_pet_icon Have a wonderful life together.

((((Brenda)))) What an amazing story. Angel is blessed and you have been blessed with Morris' help. It was meant to be......especially that Angel got comfortable and came into you home so soon. Please give Angel a belly rub for those babies that will be brought into a wonderful home. cat_pet_icon

What a beautiful kitty she is! I love her name. I hope she is a great comfort to you. Good for you for giving her a chance at a wonderful life.

awww, Morris really DID send you an Angel. Several of them.   This is a perfect story. I can't wait to read the next chapter.

How beautiful for you Brenda.
You are so lucky to have found each other. Morris will always be in your heart and
you absolutely have room for more.
Angel is truly lovely and I so believe Morris meant for you to find her.
What better Mama to take care of a sweet, pregnant, stray kitty. His Mama and he
knew Angel and babies will be in great hands.

I have not been on the board and did not realize that Morris passed. Rest in Peace!
Angel was truly sent to you by Morris and happy to read that he is easing your pain. Enjoy te journey with Angel.

Oh dear, I'm a teary mess after reading your lovely tome. I'm so sorry about Morris. So sweet you and Angel found each other. From the pictures, do I see coloring on her head, a white body and coloring on her tail? Wondering if she's a Turkish Van. If so, she'll love water. Can't wait to see what her babies look like. Wishing you and Angel much love.

(((Brenda))) teary eyed here! How remarkable & beautiful.. a true Angel indeed & bless you for being able to notice that marking!

A bumper sticker I once saw... I will never forget.. it had paw prints all over it & said: who saved who? I think we can all relate to that...

Yes Carol, there is a tiny bit of color on her tail, barely visible...you have good eyes! I hadn't even noticed it! I'll have to go look up Turkish Van now. I was thinking she maybe had a little Siamese somewhere in the woodpile as she is quite vocal. A woman at card club last night who lives a few doors down from me told me that she saw the gorgeous long haired black and white cat mate with her...wish I knew the date so I could guesstimate her due date. I was hoping that the b&w one was the father (or one of them anyways). He has since been trapped and taken away...so sad as he was a beautiful cat.

I love that! I am going to look for that bumper sticker.

I swear when I got up this morning she is even fatter than last night! It looks like she has a small soccer ball in her belly and hard as a rock, she is having a hard time getting comfortable laying down...I can relate to that!

OOOOHHHHHHH!!! I cant wait for those little furballs to be born!!! Brenda, did you ever imagine that after Morris, you would have a brood??
I'm So Happy for you...She brought some healing to your heart--HUGS~!!! from us.. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I am also teary-eyed at your wonderful story Brenda...it is so great that she came inside and took advantage of your hospitality with all the towels and blankets etc....nice place you have here...wow!!
And that vet is not so bad after all...at least with that free exam you will be having... NICE!!!

I had hoped that you would open your home to another kitty and isn't it great that when you had made the decision to do so, she came into your life! Her fur looks healthy...I wonder how she was eating all this time...have you ever seen her before? You had seen the male though, right? This has made my day!! I only just saw your post and now I am filled with such happiness for you! Who would have imagined that this would come about? WOW! It is SO great and I can't wait to hear updates....I am waving across the bay to ya...can you see me?
Have missed you Brenda and am so thrilled that you have this kind of activity going on in your place now...I am jumping for JOY!!! Keep us posted, please????

Angel is extremely healthy, her fur is as soft as silk and she's quite clean now that she has come in from the rain and weather. I cleaned out her ears last night (and she let me!) and there was hardly anything in them. I googled the Turkish Van as Carol suggested and I think she's right on target there...I think there is at least some in Angel's gene pool.

There are five other people on my street who have been feeding her for awhile and they allowed her to sleep under their carports....seems we are all kitty lovers here on my street. It's amazing that she wasn't caught though because my community has had a big push to capture (trap) the strays and turn them over to Animal Control, where they are PTS. The no-k**l shelters are all full right now. My worry has always been that darn snake though, especially for the babies, so I am truly thankful I got her in in time.

So I guess we saved each other...tried to find that bumper sticker "Who saved who" this morning but didn't have any luck...it's perfect for us!

Yes, I see you across the bay there Pat! Supposed to be mid 70's tomorrow..I'm having another yard sale.

So much kindness and healing...wishing the poor kitty you had to return health.

Thank you for realizing Angel needs you as much as you need her.

what a wonderful story! she is so gorgeous and can't wait to hear how the story turns out. i can't believe that she's seems so tame for being a feral

I haven't been on here in so long with so much going on and just clicked on here tonight and yours is the first post I saw.

First, I am so sorry to hear that Morris is gone. I'm sorry I didn't see it at the time and therefore didn't post to say how sorry I am. This is a beautiful story - so sweet - and I LOVE the little gray wings on her head and the fact that she truly is an angel sent to you. You need her love and she certainly needs your love right now.

What a wonderful gift of love Morris sent to you - and what a wonderful gift for sweet Angel that she has someone to love her and her babies and take such good care of her.

Will be anxious to see pictures.
