Honey needs your prayers.... UPDATE TO THE UPDATE

On Sunday, an emaciated kitty found her way to my deck. She seems to have something wrong with her mouth, but can eat. Her ear looks like a congenital deformity-- it looks like it just never finished growing. I think her pelvis is/was broken as her back end is pretty wobbly. Right now, she weighs only 4 lbs 11 oz and there is no fat layer anywhere on her body-- every bone is easily felt.

She was very scared at first, but after only about half an hour she came out from under the deck and ate and allowed petting-- she started to purr. Right now she is in my daughter, Kelly's, room so she can see the vet in the morning. She's very content and knows she's safe.

Honey came to us 3 weeks after I lost Fletcher... of all the houses around me, she chose ours...

Please pray that if there's anything wrong with her, it's easily fixed/treated.

If I have to send her to the Bridge... please pray that my heart can take it....

Honey:

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Oh my Honey has my prayers. Nothing that sweet and lovely can have something major wrong, that love and food and a good 'understanding' vet can't cure... What a sweet gift from God to come wanderinging into your life, and I'll bet heart!!!... Please keep us updated...

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Carolynn, it looks like there's a beautiful, loving kitty in there, and I'm sure you can coax her out. I hope the vet visit goes well.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

what a beautiful cat. hope all goes well carolynn. prayers your way that it does. let us know ASAP please

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Goodness, what a darling little kitty! And you are right; she could easily have gone elsewhere but she came to you.
Honey is definitely in my thoughts and let her know that we are pulling for her to come along and settle in nicely.
She is such a sweet looking dear too!

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

I'm so happy that Honey kept coming back for more food and loving instead of continuing to hide out in the woods all of the time. You know that the girls will understand whatever has to happen at the vet's office and whether it is the way they want it to go or not, they will also stand by you. You have taught both of them empathy that in cases like this has shown through (why else would I have gotten all of those texts the other night?) brilliantly.

First steps first and see what opportunities little Honey has going for her. Then you can figure out the next steps.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Of course you have our prayers for Honey.

What an apt name.

Pauline came into my life, also...starving, wet, and wobbly in her back end.
Purred immediately when I picked her up.
I still have Pauline...her forever home has not appeared.

Hope Honey can be fixed up.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

((((Carolynn))) Thoughts& prayers on the way. Honey, you choose the right house baby. I must say even though she's thin, she is beautiful, love her markings. Hope she just needs some TLC & food.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Many prayers are heading your way that this sweet little girl will be able to be treated successfully and brought around to the health and life she deserves. If that is not the case, she has come to the right person to do the best things for her - we're all hoping that you have a good vet visit and that she will be all right.

Sending lots of hugs, - what a precious little face.

Emmy & Dude (& MKittsi too)

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

I love her cute face and funky little ear. she is a Honey !
Obvious she got some "instructions" from someone to go to your house. ;-)

sending wishes and prayers that the vet finds only easy fix problems.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Honey, get well soon. You have alot of living to do.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Honey you have 10 kitties in Nebraska pulling for you that the nice Vet will either find nothing wrong with you or that it is easily fixed with a little bit of medicine. You are a very pretty girl and deserve to have a nice soft life inside with loving beans.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Three weeks...you've been given a gift! Please let us know what you find out after a vet visit. Poor think looks like she's had a rough time but now she found someone to care for her.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... please

She is FeLV and FIV negative!!! :RAHCAT

Official weight is 4 lbs 9 oz.

Vet figures she has a healing/healed pelvis and jaw and her ear is actually from trauma--- attacked by a larger animal probably.

She's actually about 10 years old. :o

Annnnndddd..... she has a "whopping nodule" on her thyroid! Once official bloodwork is in she'll start Tapazole.

Honey is not fazed by anything... even with doggies barking in the next room, she was relaxed. So relaxed that she curled up on my lap and fell asleep. cat_pet_icon

I only cried twice... choked up a lot more, but only bawled like a baby twice. I thought that was pretty good.

Thank you for your prayers... they mean a lot to all of us.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... UPDATE BELOW!

Just seeing this. She's going to be a beauty once she starts the meds and gets lots of good food. Fletcher must have shown her the way to your place. Seems like a habit with your wonderful GAs, Gabi brought Santanna too.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... UPDATE BELOW!

Thank you all... again.

Here's a better pic of her... she's out in general population and everyone is just hanging out. A few half-hearted hisses and that's been it!

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... UPDATE BELOW!

Carolyn
Just catching up on your story about Honey.
It is truly incredible that she found you. Fletcher must have
showed her the way to an amazing mama that would love her
and make her better.

She looks so sweet and loving.
I am so happy for both of you.

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... UPDATE BELOW!

Wow, what a beauty! Glad vet visit went ok, and IF anything is wrong, it can be easily treated. She knew which house to go to. (or was guided!)

Re: Honey needs your prayers.... UPDATE BELOW!

so.... she is not hyperT. T4 level was 1.8. Don't know what the heck that lump on her thyroid is....

We'll give her some time to gain some weight... and hope(?) that she is just so starved and malnourished that that is why she is emaciated.

And Rex (hyperT) has lost over 2 pounds in 7 weeks... even though the drinking/peeing/over grooming has improved dramatically since starting the Tapazole. His labs will be in tomorrow.... Why is he losing weight like that????

ugh. I'm not sure what to think....

Rex: my favorite thing to check for these days with unexplained weight loss is potassium. From what I've read 40% of senior kitties can suffer from hypokalemia. Tucker had months of unexplained weight loss before learning of his potassium issue, November to March losing nearly a pound a month. A week a half ago we learned that Tucker lost close to two pounds in only a few weeks, his weight is back down to 14.2, we had to increase his Tumil-K. But, with hyperts, even if they are drinking/eating less, the T4 could still be high. Best to see what the results are before worrying. Some cats do well on a mixed dose, higher in the morning, like 5mg AM and 2.5mg PM.

Honey: Mr. Darcy had a lump that was thought to be on his thyroid. Turns out he has a lymph node that keeps getting filled up with fluid. It was drained last early August and it's huge again. When he first got here it was a tiny bump, now I don't even want to admit how large it gets before being drained. Vet thinks it's due to Bartonella, the flea borne disease. Since we don't know Honey's background, a bartonella test may not be a bad idea.

Fletcher knew where to send honey for a real live angel! you are both in our most positive thoughts.
