Hello again

Is she eating the snacks at +2 and +4 during the day?
Also, again, whenever she has a lower green number like that, you need to feed a little and retest her BG to ensure she is not dropping into unsafe territory. We do not want her to go below 68 on your Alpha Trak meter (and she did!) So if that happens again the procedure is actually to (1) feed something high carb in a small amount, and (2) retest in 20-30 minutes until you have ensured her BG is rising. You repeat this procedure until her BG is over 68 on the AT meter. Then you can gradually extend the time between tests to one hour between tests. When high carb food is given you should test for a full two hours after because BG can drop back down after the carbs wear off.

She is doing very well and I am happy that she needs less insulin. Let’s hope she will need less and less.

I know you all have never tested at night before — and I have never made a point of it, but given what happened today — and the fact many cats tend to drop into lower numbers at night — I would at least get a +2 tonight to see if she has gone down very much. And I would leave food out for her overnight … just regular low carb food.

Usually at +4 and +6. but not today, she slept pretty much the morning through.

Sadly, Jools was in hospital this afternoon and I had an appointment, so with that low reading, I left a pack of food. She was fine, and hungry, when we returned.

If you started testing her by at least +4 then you would have a “heads up” about whether she’s going to drop lower and you can take earlier action by simply feeding a little more food and testing a little more.

Oh I am very sorry to hear that she was in hospital. I hope she has been released (that is, that she was well enough to be released.)

You two did well tonight and made sure she was safe. Sorry about the loss of sleep. I am happy to see blues.
I was going to stay up until her blood sugars increased, so they did at +5, we left her with more food, just to be sure.

She was so well, she went out hunting and brought us two mice which she caterwauled about until we went down stairs at half four to inspect their tiny bodies.

Readings a little high this morning, but we will monitor.

It was a day surgery, released at 15:00, to take a sample for examination. She was back to normal by the time I collected her at half three.

Now would be a very good time to begin a new thread. Generally, we are encouraged to not exceed about 50 posts, and I noticed yesterday that this thread is over 100 posts. Would you begin a new thread and copy and paste a link to this one in the first post?
