Hi Carl-
Just checking on you and Bob. Apparently you have a village of eyes on you.
So great seeing the yellow!! love MDPS - a whole new category!

We got canned recovery at the vet but I googled and you can buy it several places online..but need an RX from a vet.

I've ordered here once and they shipped incredibly fast- got it next day. http://www.wag.com/petmeds/p/royal-canin-veterinary-diet-canine-feline-recovery-24x5-8oz-844551
you have to order a whole case though. But they have great coupon codes which will bring the cost down. Ask you if you decide to order and I will get some to you (may be better than what is shown). They were very easy to use.

Here's one that will sell by individual can. http://www.southernagriculture.com/...ANextag&zmam=17172995&zmas=1&zmac=2&zmap=1450
This would just be to save a trip. You can always get it at your vet.

I would check a Whole Foods type place for the kelp..or a GNC..something like that.

Hope he continues to get better and better. We are all pulling for him. You are doing a great job!

checking on you today and continuing to cheer you & Bob on.

another thing i did when i syringe fed - had one of my dad's old big shirts that i put on. that way if there was any head-shaking (which there seemed to be plenty of) it didn't wreck my clothes. then when i was done if it was still wearable, i just set it aside for the next round.

Sending more prayers your way! When I used cypro with civvie Noah this past weekend, it took about half an hour, then he began chowing down.

Hey Carl,
You've gotten so much good info. and advice. I can't add any, but I can add tons of positive thoughts for Bob tonight.

Ella & Rusty

p.s. Everyone says that the liver shake works wonders. I hope you can make one for Bob this evening. Any health-food store would carry kelp powder.

Carl, when I used Cypro on Tashie, it was almost immediately. I preferred the Cypro over the Mirtrazapine as you could doe every 12 hours with the Cyrpo and with the Mirt, every 72 hours and it would have some "wear off" - also, the Mirt seemed to make her "high" but not the Cypro. I would definitely say by the 2nd dose, it's kicked in. Are you giving it orally or transdermal?

Thinking of you & Bob and sending loads of eating vibes!

PS. Unfortunately, I also became a "pro" at syringe feeding ....... my "recipe" was to take HOME MADE chicken broth (made from 1 bone/ skin breast & 1 bone/skin thigh) boiled in 2 quarts of water then skim the fat off. You can then freeze the broth and use as needed. I would water the food down with the broth and run through a small blender and then suck up into the syringe. I would prep several syringes 1/2 full and have them all ready to go. I found that doing 1/2 full worked better as you didn't "gag" with too much food all at once. I came up with some good techniques, if you need to know more, just ask :-D Anything I can do to help in any way!

Hang in there!

More healing vines being sent your way Bob, and strength vines and hugs to you Carl. :YMHUG: You are in my prayers.

Carl

I found spirulina at Whole Foods. The recipe makes ALOT. I put 1/2 in a glass jar and fed Gus from that. The other half, I filled a nice cube tray, froze them, and then stored the liver shake cubes in a bag in the freezer for future use.

OH NO....SAY IT ISN'T SO....
oh Carl,

I feel so badly for you and bob.......so sad. We are all heartbroken for you....but...but...but...

You 2 did "it" once.......no doubt you will succeed again.....

remember to trust your gut....like you did the first time 'round.....

I have never been happier to see a yellow in my life

you and me both!!!! I let out a sigh of relief when I saw that............

There are a lot of vitamins and minerals in kelp, but I don't think it is critical. If there is a vitamin shop or health food store near you, they should have it. Or you could get started with what you have and add the kelp powder later.
