Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

((((((((((((Carolyn and Latte)))))))))))) We are all praying that this is a passing problem. Let us know!

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

I just had to post again because I am sitting here worrying and worrying for you - all I can do is just pop in again to send support and prayers that it is a pinched nerve or something that will be temporary. Will be checking in to see if there is any word.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Praying so hard & sending healing vines to dearest Latte--Hope this is just a small injury--Snowflakes, snowflakes,
My heart has stopped till we hear from you!!!-HUGS !!

((( Carolyn )))

Poor baby.

I had a dog go down in the yard one time, I thought she had broken her back. Might have slipped a disc, we were never sure, but once the swelling went down she started to get better.

Hoping this isn't something serious, and glad you have some time off to be with her. Good girl for using the LB under such trying circumstances. Princess Warrior is right!

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Sending lots of positive energy to you and Latte.
I have just been reading your old threads for the last few days - getting aquainted...
I'm so sorry this is happening.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

(((((Carolyn & Latte)))))
I just got home and read your post. My heart goes out to you and to brave Latte. I am glad you got her to the vet (and please don't worry about the expense; we are all family, and families look out for one another). Do keep us informed when you can. We will be sending good thoughts, many many healing vines, blizzards of snowflakes, and prayers.
Hugs to you both,

Ella & Stu
p.s. I was going to suggest putting Latte on an ensolite pad for the trip to the vet. We use them as splints in emergency situations in wilderness first aid.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

*Latte update*

Latte is at the vets and getting xrays now. Carolyn says she is more painful than last time and can't walk at all compared to last time and she could at least walk some.

The vet tossed around the idea of a muscle relaxer called mentocarbamol. Does anyone know anything about this?

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

I rushed home from my appointment to try and find news about Latte. Glad to hear she's at the vet. Please update when you can.
Praying so hard for the two of you.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Im pposting from my phone - so no long winded update.

The vet did not see anything broken or misplaced. He did noticed a kidney stone (unrelated, but new issue). He suggested regular bupe, possibly the muscle relaxer sarah mentioned, maybe increasing her pred, rest, and a lot of hoping that it turns out like the last time. So, we wait and see if she shows improvement and starts being able to meet her basic needs in a self sufficient manner in the next few days..

We are home. It took about 30 min of her crying and growling to finally get her out of the carrier and under the piano. She cannot get her legs under her to sit up. She cannot walk. She can only lay on her side. Im having a hard time getting any food or fluids in her because even lifting her head seems to be difficult. She tries, tho.

Her bg was 162 @ +7 or so. = guess = will have to play tonights dose by ear if there is no way to get food in her.

The ac call should be coming in soon. Im going to try some babyfood before the call comes. I will check back in at some point after that.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Oh goodness Carolyn! I read this morning but didn't have time to post. I can't imagine what it's like to watch her not be able to move much! My heart goes out to you both, and I certainly am hoping she heals quickly. I have no advice or help, just lots of HUGS for you both!

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

I am so glad to hear that there wasn't a break or anything terribly serious. But I know that doesn't help you now. I hope the pain meds, etc start working soon and Latte is up and around very soon. I can't wait to hear what the AC has to say. As you may have seen from all of the posts, everyone here is pulling for you and Latte with a zillion prayers going out. My body is at tbp, but in spirit I am with you and Latte.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Oh I'm so glad to hear there is nothing broken!! I know you will take good care of latte, and she knows it too. That's why she is trying to be a good patient for you :-D

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Glad she's home. Glad they didn't see anything serious in the tests, though it's tough to not have any answers. Hopefully she'll feel a little stronger after a rest.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

((Carolyn)) I so wish I could be sitting with you and Latte now.
I am so relieved to hear nothing is broken.
We are all watching and praying and checking.
Feel our strength and love, all the way to you.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Hi again, Carolyn, Good news that nothing is broken or misplaced. Sounds like a wrench. As we beans know, wreches can be debilitating, but they do go away. I hope that one of the pain killers will help Latte and that she'll be more mobile soon. We think of you all the time and wish we could be there with you to help out. Think positive thoughts. "Every day in every way: better and better".

Hugs,
Ella & Stu

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

So glad you are home now. That is good news that they didn't see anything (except for the kidney stone?)
and I am hoping that rest will make her feel much better. At least you know what the test showed now and there's nothing broken or misplaced. What a terrible morning that was for you both...you poor little darlings...I am so sorry that happened.
I hope she will be able to rest.....you know with pain meds, they end up feeling so much better and then they try to do too much. I hope she will take it easy. And you too. Are you able to relax a little now?
That was some ordeal for you two. We have all been praying for you....sending love to youz....
and thank you so much for the update.... :YMHUG:

This says exactly how we feel too. Carolyn - Latte holds a special place in my heart and we pray for you and her.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

(((Carolyn & Latte))) I'm glad to see that there isn't anything broken and that it may just be something that the muscle relaxer will help. Will continue to send blankets of snowflakes and hugs!

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

((((((((((Carolyn))))))))))(((((((((Latte)))))))))))

I'm really hoping for the pinched nerve. :(

===============================
I missed the update! I'm soooooooooo relieved nothing's broken, now we just need the meds to do their magic. Poor lil thing.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

oh sweetie, at least we know there is nothing broken. I'm praying for a quick recovery for your dear Latte.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

(((((((Carolyn)))))) (((((Latte))))

I'm at tbp and poped in for a second.... glad to hear that you girl is home.
Nothing broken is a good thing; but you are not out of the woods I read.

I'm keeping you and Latter in my thoughts.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Glad you are home and she is under her piano.
Sending tons of snowflakes for her recovery and comfort.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Sending lots of prayers and hugs for you and Latte. I sure hope she is feeling better soon! I'm so glad to hear nothing is broken.

(We're not on Lantus but I saw the prayer request on FB. One can never have too many prayers. Thanks Ronnie!)

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

So glad that the tests don't show anything serious. Hopefully some restful time will bring her back to normal.

I do gotta say, I love the references to the piano. Someone who has never seen you post before has got to be thinking -why is she trying to stick her cat under the piano?

Feel better dear Latte, lots of healing thoughts your way and lots of calming for you Caroline, I can't imagine what you have went through today.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

So glad nothing's broken! Still praying for you both!

And, FWIW, my Emma loves hanging out under the piano. I have to climb under there with her sometimes to give her her shot

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Been thinking about you guys all day.I rushed home from worked and jumped right on to see if there is any update. It is definitely good news that nothing is broken! I am so glad. We are all praying for Latte to recover as quickly as possible. Please take care of yourself also, I know what it is like watching and caring for a very sick furbaby. It is exhausting on every level. We are all her for support :YMHUG:

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

I'm just getting to reading this now - soooo sorry to hear about Latte! Sending a forest of healing vines and blizzards of snowflakes...

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Here's some info on methocarbamol (Robaxin) and more technical info. Let me know if you want me to pull more info out of pharmacy reference guides.

I'm glad you're home. I'm glad nothing is broken or severed. Pain is hard to deal with but Latte can heal. I know how in knots my stomach was. I can't imagine how you were feeling.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Oh thank goodness!! This is good - nothing broken nothing misplaced. Maybe the relaxer will help - once any inflamation subsides she could be back to normal. Poor sweet kitten. Hoping to hear a good update soon. Sending thoughts and hugs.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Praying that everything is ok with Latte. That is so scary. I'm so happy to hear that nothing is broken. Sending lots of healing vines and snowflakes your way.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Just now seeing this (((((Carolyn))))) I am praying for you and Latte now as I type hope things get better for her soon (((((HUGS))))healing vines and snowflakes are headed your way :YMHUG:

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Just talked to Carolyn. She's working on pmps/shots/meds right now, but will pop in a bit later when Latte is calm and resting for an update to everyone.

Carolyn, this is an excruciating time for both of you right now. Just know that there are so many, many people sending prayers, love and support to you and Latte, and I really hope you can feel even a fraction of the comfort we're sending your way. We're here for you to help in any way we can.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

So glad nothing serious. Time will hopefully take care of the problem. Just love her.
Jan

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

So so glad Latte is home and unbroken--Dont know what effects are on a cat, but me "bad back kid" used Robaxin for several years and it was very good..Makes you a little tired, as I remember, but helps you heal..
We are all here sending our love, prayers & healing snowflakes to our sweet friend Latte--and here for support for you Carolyn!

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Am just reading this now, was looking for an update.
Glad she's home. Sending lots of positive vibes and hugs.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

More prayers, hugs, vines, snowflakes, for both you and Latte. I wish we could absorb some of the stress for you.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

I'm so glad that nothing is broken and am sending many prayers that the med will kick in and she gets some relief. I was on that med once as well when I hurt my back. It sure helped. Sending a blizzard of snowflakes and healing vines your way.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Carolyn. I have been thinking about you and Latte all day. I wish with rest, that she will start to feel much better.
I think there is a new moon this weekend. When there is a new moon, wishes are more likely than anytime to come true.
It is time to have positive thoughts. I am wishing the best for Latte and her speedy recovery. I hope the AC visit goes well, and with positive news for you and how Latte loves you and how strong she is and wants to recover.
Lots of Love,
Dyana, J.D., and Ginger.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

I just chatted for a little bit with Carolyn. She plans on writing an update later on tonight but I wanted to let everyone know how things are going now.

Since Carolyn's last post not much has changed with Latte. She isn't moving her back legs at all and it is very hard for Carolyn to see this. Amy/Winston is going to visit with them tonight. She is even going to bring some special treats for Latte. :)

Lets continue to keep both Latte and Carolyn in our thoughts. (((hugs)))

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Thank you Sarah and Amy for updating.
Sending tons more healing vines Latte, hang in there kitty. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

I have thought of you and Latte all day. I am relieved that nothing is broken. I hope the meds help her quickly. All of us here send our support, and as many healing vines for Latte that can be found. You are in my thoughts, as always. My best to Latte - heal well and soon.

Re: 7/9 Latte - hurt herself

Hi everyone,
Its been a really hard afternoon. Well, day. I have to admit between trying to figure out how to get food and water in Latte, all I have been doing is crying. She cant really move. She cant sit up to eat or drink. I would venture to guess she has had close to a jar of baby food all day, 1/4+ cup of water (with milk or gravy in it), and a handful of various treats. She finally peed (herself), which I told her over and over it was ok to do. I would figure out a way to clean her up. She managed to lift her butt just enough to hit the pee pad rather than the blanket she was laying on. I gave her lots of positives for it because I could tell for a while she was really stressed out and wanted to go to the LB. I did try to put her in there once, but that did not turn out so well. For now, we will figure out the bathroom stuff as we go.

I did give her regular dose of insulin because her last shot was reduced and late (cant remember how late to be honest). She is also bouncing, and I gave her additional steroid. The higher she is, the more she wants to drink/pee...so if low (er) she goes, then fine. Earlier today she laid staring at her water bowl for over an hour, crying, as she was moving into the 400's. It was a very helpless feeling for both of us. Sometimes I can get her to drink - usually if I put some milk in the water...or juice from a wellness packet. Mostly she cant sit in a position/lift her head high enough to lap it up, tho. Tomorrow I may need to reconsider and just play her dose by ear. I do need to stay on schedule as much as possible for Monday due to one small job Monday evening. But I wont get too worked up about it at this point.

Do you mind if I check in tomorrow or MUCH later tonight about the AC? To summarize the big stuff...she is in a lot of pain along her spine from head to tail, but the medicine (bupe) helps quite a bit. She does not know how I can help her right now...she couldnt think because she was hurting too much. She is not ready to go today, but does not feel she can sustain this for very long at all. She is spiritually ready to move on. she was confused as to why I was wondering how she was suppose to 'tell' me when she is ready. She didnt know how she was suppose to predict when her body was going to quit and just not wake up one day. There is more...but I know some are curious.

Amy came over for a while this evening to help me give Latte fluids (I needed a pole-haha- and she was a good one! ). She came armed with rotissare chicken, more baby food, ice cream, and whip cream, and a few other items. I did figure if I hold a piece for her, she will lick it and kind of nibble. Well, it has worked once so far. She is liking and able to eat temptation treats, too.

As I started this post a while ago, but keep needing to step away, Latte managed to move her body with head at a 12oclock position to 6oclock. I was taking the trash out, so did not see how she did it. She is stretching a lot...kinda hunching and pushing all four legs. I see her try to get her legs underneath her to stand, but she just cant do it. It looks like she is paddling. She so badly WANTS to get up. She is also desperately wanting as many head and ear skritches as possible. Amy thought someone could do it all day and night for her and she wouldnt complain. I have seen her lick her paw to clean it, and once lick her face to clean it this evening. Very, VERY small things that I must grasp onto, right? *sigh*

I think one of the hardest things of all this is seeing her face over and over in my mind as she jumped up. She was so excited that it was morning and time for ME to get out of bed. She is almost always excited. She had fairly decent numbers, and probably felt a little better after having pain meds in her the night before. She had pooped and eaten an hour before the alarm. Her infections are gone. We were ready to try and enjoy a nice long week together in good spirits. And then I see how her body twisted, and how her face changed from excitement to pain and fear. It was like watching a train wreck...you knew what was about to happen, you prayed it would be okay, you dont want to look, but you have to...and that was the last time she was able to walk or sit up.

Thank you all so much for your support. I was just bawling when I logged on and saw how many of you are keeping an eye on us. I was only able to read bits and pieces from the vet, between crying, or caring for Latte. I will go back at some point tonight on my phone and read them ALL to Latte (we will....or I will be up all night).

Bigggest hugs to all of you! Thank you!!!!

I will update again in the a.m. as soon as I can

Tears are streaming down my face for the 2 of you Carolyn.
I will be saying many extra prayers that the pain will ease for your princess.
You both are in our hearts tonight and you will be watched over.
Thank you for sharing with us and keeping us posted.
Wishing you a peacful night with Latte. Tomorrow is another day.
One day at a time.
:YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Carolyn

thank you for taking the time out to update us.
Amy was so wonderful to come over to keep you company. ((((Big hugs)))) Amy.

Will be sending continued prayers for your sweetie pie Latte, and positive thoughts her way.
Take care of yourself too Carolyn, and please give Latte gentle scratchies and tummy rubs from all of us.
