Tiger was doing so good through all this but Saturday I noticed the appetite declining and by yesterday evening he was not eating, which also meant getting no water either, since he hasn’t been drinking plain water. We decided to take him to the ER. They examined him, and did blood and urine tests. She was also able to examine his mouth and stitches. He had slightly low white blood count and slightly high protein in the urine but everything else was good.
Not having anything in particular stand out, she decided it could be some pain from dental and or tummy upset. She gave him a shot of bupinnorphine (sp?) for pain and a shot of cerenia and also gave fluids. Noted that the protein was likely from reduced water consumption and that we should monitor the white blood count in the future as it was not out of range but at the lower level of acceptable range. We were to bring him back if he did not eat by today.
As soon as we got home he was ravenous and wolfed down his food. He ate again at 4am and was still ravenous at breakfast this morning. Also for the first time since surgery, he actually drank water from his bowl!
As far as his FD, he missed his shot last night as we were at the ER and didn’t get home until after midnight. We gave him 2u this morning and he is coming down from his highs and is now in the high 200s at +3. As always just as we were headed back to better numbers, something comes up….
I’m hoping to get a nap today, it’s been a long weekend…
Have a great day all!

Hi Deb, so happy to read that Tigers blood test didn't show anything serious and that he is eating and drinking again! I know this is so scary and stressful if they don't eat. I hope he continous to heal and you can take a rest today. I can imagine that was so stressful last night. You do so much for the little guy. He can be very happy! :bighug::cat::bighug:

Ohh Deb I’m so sorry to hear that you had such a scare with Tiger last night. I’m glad to hear he is feeling better and has an appetite and his drinking today.
What a relief, I’m sure you are feeling better today than yesterday. Ivy and I are sending prayers and hugs, as I’m sure you need them. :bighug::bighug:
Hope he feels much better each day.:cat::bighug::cat:

Oh boy what a night!! Im so glad the Buprenorphine helped him. Did they give you the oral to give at home? Its a very fast acting pain med, used a lot for Pancreatitis.

They gave him a shot.
His energy level still seems low and has left the couch like one time today. Definitely still not himself….

Im so sorry. :bighug::bighug: No, I know they gave him a shot, but it will wear off by tomorrow I think or maybe that one lasts a bit longer but then you might need some to give him at home.

No they didn’t give me any for home. I think I will call the dentist tomorrow. It’s been a week, I would think he should be better not worse.

Oh Deb, what a few days you had! I am glad to know he is back home and ate and drank. I hope the dentist can help with his pain now. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
