Tiger was doing so good through all this but Saturday I noticed the appetite declining and by yesterday evening he was not eating, which also meant getting no water either, since he hasn’t been drinking plain water. We decided to take him to the ER. They examined him, and did blood and urine tests. She was also able to examine his mouth and stitches. He had slightly low white blood count and slightly high protein in the urine but everything else was good.
Not having anything in particular stand out, she decided it could be some pain from dental and or tummy upset. She gave him a shot of bupinnorphine (sp?) for pain and a shot of cerenia and also gave fluids. Noted that the protein was likely from reduced water consumption and that we should monitor the white blood count in the future as it was not out of range but at the lower level of acceptable range. We were to bring him back if he did not eat by today.
As soon as we got home he was ravenous and wolfed down his food. He ate again at 4am and was still ravenous at breakfast this morning. Also for the first time since surgery, he actually drank water from his bowl!
As far as his FD, he missed his shot last night as we were at the ER and didn’t get home until after midnight. We gave him 2u this morning and he is coming down from his highs and is now in the high 200s at +3. As always just as we were headed back to better numbers, something comes up….
I’m hoping to get a nap today, it’s been a long weekend…
Have a great day all!
