Hello Good Morning Everyone,


I'm Clara i live in New York and i take care my best friend who is sick. He has diabetes and today morning number is 291 its 7am. He is eating ff pate. I will be back at 9am. I hope you are doing well and your cats too.

Hi Clara, of course you cannot stay late. If your father or brother are awake, they can get another test. Did your brother get another test last night?

:cat: found him. Macho got 293.
I will check him again at 12 which will be +5.
Can i give hime like one of ff pate at 12 as usual he eats lunch with us.
 
Test first to make sure he hasn’t dropped a lot. It’s fine to feed him then. It’s actually good to test and feed 1/2 a can around +2 because that’s when the insulin starts to work. Then test and feed at +5. However if the +2 is a lot lower post here for next steps. Make sense?

Yes. i understand. He is eating now. He got 284 :)
 
I know you were told to give low carb food if 60 or above. I am going to modify that. If Macho’s bg is in the 60’s, give him middle carbs, around 10-15 %. Tell us all the foods you have been feeding so we can give you a guide as to what to feed in case you post and don’t get an answer right away. If he drops into the 50’s for now I suggest something high carb. Fancy feast gravy lovers are high and you can also add a few drops of honey if you don’t have high carb food. @Bandit's Mom, will try to check your amps each morning and I will try and watch for the pmps bg.

Clara/Clara's dad, that's quite a drop at +2. Please get another test before bed?
He is clearing the bounce so there is strong downward momentum. Without some more tests/food later in the cycle, he may again end up being very low by AMPS.

I have (5) 9 lives hearty cuts with real chicken & fish in Gravy.
24 Fancy Feast Classic Salmon & Shrimp Feast Canned ,
24 Savory Feast Canned Cat,
5 Fancy Feast Medleys Turkey Florentine
5 Fancy Feast White Meat Chicken Florentine and 24 Tiny Tigers Pate Seafood.
My brother and i looked at the list of food and we have a plan to go together to buy trader joe's ocean white fish, salmon and rice and chicken / turkey and rice.
I was going to write you right now. I just check him and he is 153. I really thank you because my cat is my best friend. My brother loves him too but he likes more video games and the space channel. I LOVE my cat. Macho reminds me my grandma (abuela) because she was the best feeling and always make me feel good no matter how bad she felt and that how Macho is. He is sick but he makes me and always do his best and makes my dad happy because he greets him at the door and he sees how happy i am with Macho:D:cat:. We found out he was sick a week after we adopt him from the nyc shelter and i didn't feel bad that he was sick because it was like grandma. She was sick and we help her feel better and care for her like she did for us and same with Macho nothing different.

I thank you all of you and i am sure my father too. Please forgive him if he offended you or anyone but he is very good man.
My dad is the best, sometimes he says no to things i want, but he let me keep Macho when the vet told us he was sick.
I was afraid he was going to bring him back to the shelter and he didn't.
My brother and i told him that will never complaint for anything or ask for anything else in the world and i was going to look after him like he (we) did for abuela.

Hi Clara, Thank you so much for your story. I liked reading about how much you love Macho and your abuela--she sounds like a really nice lady. You will get Macho feeling great again, I know you will. :bighug:

If he is at 130 now, he will probably be safe tonight. Hopefully @Bandit's Mom and @tiffmaxee can confirm my thoughts on this. Can you give him a little bit of Fancy Feast Classic Salmon and Shrimp right now? Then you can leave food for him in the machine and I think he will be ok.

Hi Clara, Macho and you are lucky to have each other. We will do everything we can to help you make him better. It sometimes takes a little while for diabetic cats to bring their blood sugar under control, but hang in there. It's only a matter of time before he is himself soon. Thank you and your dad for adopting a cat and keeping him even though he was not well! :bighug:

Like Katherine said, please feed Macho before going to bed and leave some food out for him to eat later. That should prevent him from going too low by the morning. I see that he is down to 113 @+6

This website gives you the carb% of various foods. When you have the time, you can check the carb% of the food you have and label it as LC, MC and HC. That way you know which is which and can feed them to Macho when he is in lower numbers.

I see that Macho is still heading lower at +6. I hope he will eat the food left for him and not dip very low by AMPS!

Good Morning,

I saw this message late and i gave him a spoon of 9 lives before going to bed and then another spoon of of medleys :oops: and i left his pate out so he ate a lot.
my brother test him after i went to bed +4 and +6. Last night this website was turn off or something. He says he couldn't get in.
Macho amps is 364:(. Sorry
