That's yesterday's number... pre-bath ;-)
Yes, that's right... I finally broke down and gave the fatboy a bath. Poor guy is just to rotund to properly groom himself, the fur along his back was greasy and very flaky and brushing just was not doing the job. So, after a quick nail trim, I set everything up in the kitchen (we have a big sink that isn't divided so is much easier than bending over the tub.) I put a towel in the bottom of the sink and put a couple of inches of water in the bottom, had the sprayer ready, the shampoo in a spot easy to grab with one hand and several thick towels ready for drying. Then I fetched the cat.
The instant his toes touched the water he suddenly became the most agile kitty in the world! He twisted and scrambled and the next thing I knew there was 19 pounds of wet po'd cat flying through the house.
Did I mention he's fat? There is no excess skin with which to scruff him.
I found him under the bed, but he didn't go very far under so I was able to scoop him out and carried him back to the kitchen and the torture area. Got him back in the water, turned the faucet back on and started wetting him down. I was serenaded at volumes I did not know he could attain, Tugger is usually a very wimpy meower but he sure found his voice yesterday! With one hand holding him down at the back of his neck I was able to apply the shampoo and commence scrubbing, while Bella hopped up on the counter to check out what was happening and BB yelled at me from the feeding table and Tux sat on the stove observing fearfully (the last time Tug had a bath, Tux got one right after, they were kittens and we'd gotten fleas.) Echo wasn't sure what the heck was happening but it had the big cats upset so he carefully stayed under the feeding table.
I got the scrubbing done, then rinsed him all off (a LOT of shed fur came off) and somehow managed to wrap 19 pounds of pissed off wet cat in a towel and remove him from the sink. Got him mostly dried off before he finally had enough and got loose. Took three towels to get him 80% dry. He is now soft and silky and still po'd at me.
I did NOT try to check his number after the bath. I just did my best to avoid him after I fed him lots of FDCC ;-) He's starting to get over it already though, this morning he let me pet him and sit with him for a while and I think he slept with me last night (hard to know for sure since his fur is so soft now... could have been almost any of them cuddled up to me in the dark!) and he's hanging out near me hoping my guilt will cause me to give him more FDCC. I don't feel that guilty ;-)
As for the rest, he's been doing great =) Keeping nice numbers even while the other cats munch on the drooler's kibble (I have seriously got to figure out a way to cat proof the dog food bowls. It'd be great if the dogs would eat when we put it out but they don't. Brats) Bella and Tux are the worst. They will chase the dogs off the food so they can eat it. I remove the food whenever I catch 'em but they are sneaky and quiet.
Pups are doing great, Isis is about to go into heat I think. We had issues getting money moved so I haven't been able to get her spayed yet. I'll be ordering diapers for her once I hit submit on this post. Not looking forward to this adventure at all.
Love my job =) Love love love it =) I went and got my hair cut short because of the heat, and am loving the hair just as much as I love the job. Getting along with hubby these days
Probably because he's in and out so much. He's only been home a couple of days at a time, then they head back out to sea for 3-5 days. It's going to be like this all summer, he hates it but I have to say I kind of like it. I get a chance to miss him a little bit so when he comes back I'm happy to see him... then he leaves again before I have time to get too annoyed
It's perfect lol.
I've been around, mostly reading and lurking, but I've been around... I still keep a tab open with FDMB at all times and poke my head in whenever I have a few minutes to read =) I miss the daily condos though. I'll be glad to get Brady here so I can come back
Not much news on Brady's move yet. I hit a roadblock in the process and can't continue till Venita comes back. Well, technically I could but it would cost $100 more. It's weird, the company makes you pay $100 more if the receiver is the payer. So if I set the account up in my name, they will stick us for $100 more than if the "shipper" (or the person who drops him off) pays for the move. It's stupid. But the workaround for it seems to be if Venita sets up the account under DCIN's name, then calls the drop off person an "employee/volunteer" of DCIN. It's strange, but it seems to be the only way to get it done without that extra cost. The company only needs three days to set it up, so waiting for Venita (they ask for certain info on the sign up page that I don't have access to) shouldn't cause too much trouble... I hope! I've gotten a quote though so I'm finally able to go ask for donations in Community. There will be a post up today for that. With any luck, we should be able to get Brady here in a week or so at the most =) *paws crossed*
