Phoenix had an asthma attack last Friday afternoon. His vet saw him on Saturday and started him on Levalbuterol nebulizer treatments. I am giving him the treatments twice a day for a week. His asthma had cleared up by Sunday morning.
I looked the medication up and could not find any information saying it lowers blood glucose levels. But, last Saturday, I skipped Phoenix's morning insulin for his vet visit. That evening, his PMPS was 478. I didn't check his BG all that night because his reading was so high. I was amazed that his AMPS the next morning was 86.
Phoenix's PMPS last night was 130. He started rising after that. I checked his BG at +8 and he was down to 60. I fed him one half can of fancy feast hc. Twenty minutes later BG 54. I fed him the other half can of f.f hc and some honey. At +9, Phoenix was only up to 77. I gave him more honey. At +9.5, his BG is 76. I gave him more honey. I have been trying to keep his BG up.
Phoenix's numbers don't support a reduction but do you think I should decrease his insulin? I am not sure what to do. His AMPS is in 2 hours.
