Last Night:
417 PMPS
396 +3.5

I'm surprised I didn't test again after that +3.5. I did get up at 3:00am to give bupe and syringe feed, but didn't test BGs.

I ended up just syringing some water into him last night, and then found out from one of the other groups (FAF or FPS) that it would be better to just give him more syringes of food and maybe add some more water to them. This morning, he finished off the Authority Chicken & Liver Pate and is starting on a can of Friskies Senior Diet Beef & Chicken.
He has had two short walks this morning. I did notice him at one time, walking way down on his front legs (like he was a lot shorter on his front end than his hind end) and then he stopped. Weird.

His appointment with his regular vet is in two hours.

I am so glad to be home with him today. It is so much nicer to be able to give him a couple syringes and then give him a couple hours to relax after each session, rather than just pushing down a day's worth of food in 2 hours. I also get to see him acting better, as he is not just being pilled and syringed every time I walk past him.

Last night, he was walking to his water bowl and just hanging his head over it and barely drinking anything if at all. This morning, he is walking to his water bowl and drinking.

I need to get my list together to take with me to the vet.

Sending vines to all who need some.
Hopefully, I will be able to pull my attention from J.D. and post to some other people's condos some time soon.

Re: 08/14 J.D. AMPS 363 +2 371

Sending good vetty vines for today. I'm glad you get to be with him all day, too!

Re: 08/14 J.D. AMPS 363 +2 371

Sending more vetty vines for J.D. Maybe her was play stalking something when he was low walking.

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

The vet said I might be losing him.

I took him to the vet and she wanted to run a blood test for Chemistry. The Feline Pancreatitis Support Group said I should do a CBC too. So, I took him back again to get more blood drawn, and I asked the vet to call me back and when she did she said she did not see the sparkle in his eye when they took the second blood test.

I was hoping to just relax today with him, but that didn't happen.

I think I am going to try just to relax with him, and not give him insulin unless he needs it, and just give him his buprenex and fluids, and see if he'll eat later. He did lick at some HC FF Grilled Tuna a few minutes ago.

To me, he is the same as he has been all week. Just wants to lay around and sleep. I wanted to lay around and sleep with him today, but that didn't happen.

I am so flipping sad.

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

Sending tons of healing vines to J.D. and great big hugs to you!!!!

I hope you enjoy your time relaxing with your sweet, sweet baby.....

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

Sorry to hear that JD isn't feeling well, but don't give up hope yet.

Until you hear the results of the BW, I think it's a little irresponsible for your vet to tell you you're losing him...and even if it's bad, we've seen cats recover before!

Sending lots of good appy and BW vines your way and hoping JD and you have a good night tonight

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

I was trying to look at j.d.'s profile but it said I needed permission.
I wanted to remember his age.

Hope you get some laying around time with him and some extra cuddles.....
I think they have up and down days just like we do.... so who's really to say.
I haven't had a glint in my eye this entire year.... it's been so bad.... but what does that really mean?

Enjoy each day. And paws crossed for the best....

did you see the keychain/pendant..... for a noseprint....http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=123244
I'm ordering one soon myself .

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

Hi Dyana,
We are sending J.D. some "rally" vines. I agree with the others that some days are good and some not so good. Wait for the test results. In the meantime, just treasure the time you can be with him without having to rush off to work.

J.D., eat yer fuds, man!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

Dyana, I am so sorry for such a rough time these past few weeks. Sending prayers for J. D. and you. I am hoping you get some time to relax together today.

J.D. is an older cat. I think like humans they have good days and bad ones sometimes. Praying for improvement for J.D. ((((HUGS))))

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

Hugs and prayers to you, Dyana. As the others have said - just like humans - when our kitties age, they will have good days and not so good days, and we can't really judge anything by one little observation. Just keep loving that handsome boy!!

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

We're here for you, dyana. Hugs to you and JD.

Rhiannon, JD is 19. He is such a sweet kitter, dyana, none of us knows how much time there is. I know you already treasure your time with him. It's precious. Call me if you want to talk. I'm up til 1030 my time. :YMHUG:

Re: 08/14 J.D. :( Vet Report

(((Dyana)))
Sending huge hugs your way and heaps of the rally vines for JD too :YMHUG: cat_pet_icon

I don't know how I'll ever get him back on schedule, but I gave him some insulin, and some syringe feeding.

He did seem better earlier, but now, he seems out of it again. I hope he will rally.

Please continue the vines if you have some to spare.

Adding tons of feel-better vines for J.D., and many hugs for you, ((Dyana)).
I hope you're able to have a restful, relaxing evening with your best guy ♥♥♥

(((Dyana)))

What a trooper he is.....19! Sending tons and tons of healing vines, white light, and snowflakes.

Remember...you know him better than anyone. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I don't think the vet meant to be cruel or to have you give up hope. I think it was more to prepare you that the outcome might not be what you wish. There's always that possibility when an older cat has an issue. However, she said "might", so there's also hope, and as long as J.D. is there with you, you can love him and care for him and keep him comfortable. Vets don't know everything, as we've all learned through our FD journeys.

Sending many good appy and healing vines to J.D., and lots of hugs and prayers to you.
