Happy weekend everyone!
Currently, Binx seems to be doing well if we look at the 5 P's. I went to a local vet yesterday (as mine's a bit far and I'm currently without car) to get a urinalysis and culture done, to rule out infection. I was able to speak to the vet there about Binx, but it's so difficult with his complicated history. Ultimately, I asked for a phosphorus binder to add to his food and some sub-q fluids to take home and administer (they've suggested 100ml every other day). Binx had a cardiac ultrasound last year which determined his Grade 2 murmur is physiological, but I'm aware this can change. The vet felt comfortable with me giving him the sub-q and honestly, I just want to try this week, as I'm going to recheck his values in a weeks time to see if anything has tipped the scale for his kidneys (and might throw in the proBNP test Wendy mentioned).
We gave him his first at home sub-q this morning and it was terrifying. Luckily, I had a friend come help me and thank goodness. It took a few attempts, which broke my heart... especially when the first time I got a fur shot and Binx had a little yelp when the needle went in
We were successful in the end, but I was near ready to give up.
Lastly, his BG has finally returned to normal and we hit a good couple cycles yesterday. I think he might spike a bit today from last night's green and also all the food I gave him to distract during fluids. I'll take it.
