Hope everyone's having a nice Sunday 🫂

No new updates on the saga. However, I was very surprised at last night's PMPS - a lime. I opted to not shoot, as his BG has been unpredictably low recently. The stranger thing is, I think for the first time every after a NS, his following pre-shot value was yellow... I've only ever seen pink or red. What makes this even weirder is that he's transitioning to his new diet and the carb levels are high end of MC, maybe even slightly HC. How the heck is his BG so low 🤔 Maybe absorption issues persist?

I'll keep a close eye on him to make sure no big drops.

Low B12 and pancreatitis are common companions for GI issues (IBD and/or small cell lymphoma), unfortunately. I presume you've seen A Primer on Pancreatitis. He will feel much better with his B12 supplemented. You should be able to get a small vial from the vet and do the injections yourself.

Thanks, Wendy! I somehow had not seen that pancreatitis link, so very good resource to have. Some things I missed in my other research that are included there. I agree, I do think IBD or SCL is likely still a factor here and would like to get Binx checked out. And yes, vet sent me how with a vial for B12 injections and needles. Once per week for 6 weeks and then once per month following that. I feel even more pressure there with the bigger needle to not have a fur shot :arghh:

The diabetic list here, contains foods that are CKD and FD compatible. Some of which may be novel proteins. Rabbit is a higher phosphorus meat, as is kangaroo. I hope the Rayne works out, just mentioning that there might be alternatives, should you need them.

Very much appreciated! I do think I'll look at other alternatives once he's gained weight or stabilized (paws crossed). I saw some options on that list, but couldn't find them in store and wanted to start transitioning asap. I think the Rayne is on the higher than desired pho level (1.1% dry matter) and I thought if it's necessary to stay on that, we'd look at a pho binder. Much to consider! But ideally, I'd get him on something appropriate for CKD, FD, and novel.
 
I use 27 gauge needles for the B12 injections. Leroy doesn't care.

Thriving Pets has a phosphorus binder that the IO group recommends. Supposedly cats don't notice the powder mixed into food. I haven't tried a binder with Leroy yet.
