Misty has been bouncing a lot and had a couple of dose reductions lately. I missed her mid cycle test today because I took the kids to the beach. She was high, so I felt it was ok. The kids have missed out on a lot, including holidays, because I’m always looking after Misty.
I’m starting a new job next week and will be away all day. I can’t stay home if she goes low to monitor her. I will be working from home sometimes, but probably not when it suits Misty! I can get the vet to try putting on another libre to at least help with the monitoring even if I’m not there, but the last one failed because they bent the filament and they have to sedate her. This has turned me off. I also was unhappy with her care when she was there all day last time (no food and no glucose monitoring until 2pm and she was coming off 2 hypos in 2 days).
She does need a follow up blood test for borderline anaemia, which would also require sedation. I’ve been putting that off due to the stress it causes Misty and me and because I wanted her more stable before going back to the vet.
I’ve also left it too late to get an appointment before I start my new job because of the stress, but should I try the libre again? I managed to buy one for $92. The vet charged twice that (and $200 for sedation).
Any other ideas on how to manage when I’m away all day would help. I do have an auto feeder.
Thanks for reading my long post.
