Sending prayers.

I really hope Jade will be better soon!
Okay. At least they switched to a different antibiotic that hopefully the UTI will respond to this time. Did they culture her urine on Thursday? If so they would be able to identify the specific bacteria involved (or at least see under the microscope because you can see the bacterial cells and get a good idea from their shape whether they’re gram positive or negative, etc. and decide upon an antibiotic based on that.) I agree that D-Mannose is a good supplement for bacterial infections that are caused by E coli. But if you don’t know what the bacteria is??They did lab work at the vet on Thursday, I have it. And yes, I’m sure she’s uncomfortable. My heart is broken for her. I’m doing everything I can. The new oral med is Veraflox. No urine sample was
taken last night.
I have a photo and the records. I know there are "rods" in the urine sample, that's all I know.Okay. At least they switched to a different antibiotic that hopefully the UTI will respond to this time. My in home vet is coming on Wednesday to get a clean sample for a thorough analysis. I didn't know that the sample from the vet on Thursday was taken from the table and not directly from her bladder. Hopefully the new antibiotic will work for her.I would get the vet to send the urine off to get tested to make sure it is a UTI.
I thought Sheba kept getting a UTI but it was FLUTD. She responded to the treatment but did get bouts of it periodically.
Her bladder is not enlarged. The vet last night said that it's soft and mushy and as he was squeezing, she peed so she's not blocked.I would get the vet to send the urine off to get tested to make sure it is a UTI.

Exactly. You got it Elise! You are 100 percent correct! That’s the sensitivity part of the test. They see what antibiotics the bacteria are sensitive to - I know you know that already. What Suzanne said is what I’ve been saying too. With humans it’s the same. They culture to see what antibiotic works best with the type of bacteria found.
It is definitely rod-shaped bacteria then! Those are bacilli. My Ginger had lots of cocci in her urine, which are spherical in shape.I have a photo and the records. I know there are "rods" in the urine sample, that's all I know.
Ordered! How much do I give her? I’ll have to mix it in her food. Teaspoon? How often?I have purchased the NOW brand certified organic D Mannose powder from Amazon.
