You are right, the two cycles looked similar at +2. Some action, but till +4 today you couldn't really tell that she was picking up momentum.
In hindsight, it seems like some MC at +4 was a good idea, but honestly, I'd have fed LC as well since it was later in the cycle. The 56 at +5 proved, without doubt, that she needed higher carbs. HC or MC. What to feed is all trial and error till you know your cat - and that knowledge comes only after you've experienced several such cycles and seen how she reacts to carbs.
One thing you want to keep in mind for future cycles is that food takes 20 mins to affect the BG. Testing sooner than that might not give you a correct picture of what the last meal has done.
Once she is safely up, like she is now, you want to continue to test every hour to ensure that she stays up 2 hours after the last meal. Sometimes they dip again after the carbs have worn off.
