My solution....sugar donuts in my freezer at all times.
What a great solution! And sullied food?! ...why yes, I've seen that sideways glare from all of my kitties many times.
Is there a reason that I'm not aware of that we need to give Honey right away if there are no symptoms?
I reacted rather than thinking that number through.
49 seemed REALLY low to me and the first time I experienced that number with Tiny, who showed no symptoms of being that low.
I thought to give her a drop of honey in butter directly after the 49 BG to at least get her up to a safer number.
Then, I fed her LC food directly after that little bit of honey and butter; I figured it was close enough to her time to eat anyway and I would give her a little more food at her actual meal time that was only 30 minutes away.
But then she threw up all the food, and I hoped the honey made it into her bloodstream at least, because she was not in the mood for more food after having vomited it all up. So, a tad more honey and butter just to get her numbers up.
Her BG slowly came up to 84, then after the next honey and butter and a small amount of a different LC food, it came up to 144, but I didn't think it would stay high, due to the honey, even though it was a small amount.
I needed her to be at a safe BG, and in my mind, the only thing I thought to do was what I did. I hope that makes sense.
