Willow- recently switched to ProZinc

That seems okay. Isofluorane is fine to use and quite safe. I was wondering what the induction drug was going to be because they didn’t specify, but then I see they mention a Propofol injection at the bottom of the estimate. Propofol is a common anesthesia induction agent. Buprenorphine is good for pain relief, and I see they plan on a Bupe injection. Onsior is okay as long as it’s just very short tern (otherwise too hard on the kidneys.). They plan to do bloodwork to make sure it’s safe to anesthetize her, right ? I assume that is the pre-op screen? Although that seems too low of a price for bloodwork.

The main thing I take issue with is the Convenia injection. Willow would be much safer if given oral antibiotics (Antirobe, generic name Clindamycin, is best for oral bacteria.) Convenia carries the potential for some serious side effects. If there’s a bad reaction to the Convenia injection then there’s not much you can do about it as it stays in the cat’s body for weeks. With oral antibiotics you can simply stop them if you have serious side effects. If you are able to give Willow a small pill twice a day, I would ask for the Antirobe. My cats have never had a problem with that antibiotic (no serious GI problems or other negative reactions.) If they really think Willow has bad teeth they should have you start the antibiotics a few days prior to the procedure. I sincerely hope that she just needs a cleaning and if any extractions are needed that it’s only one tooth. I am amazed at the price. It’s huge. I hope it won’t actually be that much.

Thank you so much for looking this over and for all of this extremely valuable input.
I was able to find Willow's last dental receipt (from 2021) and she was given a Convenia injection then if that's worth knowing... She didn't seem to have any serious side effects but I'm also MORE than willing to ask for the Antirobe if it's safer!
The price does seem huge... even 3 years ago the dental estimate they gave me, on the high end, was 1500 (ended up paying 1,000). There's a 1,000 difference alone in the high-end estimate between then and now! I've been going to this vet for over 10 years but they were recently bought by a larger company and I've definitely noticed the price has gone up even just for a check-up.
I'm pretty sure that the pre-op screen includes bloodwork. They recommended that I bring her in a few days before the procedure to get that done. This is from the email- "Pre-Op Screen, ECG and CBC, Pre-Surgical Panel". They said it's better to get these diagnostics ahead of time.
I really hope it ends up being a cleaning and maybe one extraction of the back tooth he pointed out at her last exam. I feel like she's been through so much lately.

I always get my cats’ bloodwork done in advance as well — to give me time to look over the results and also to spread out the cost a little bit. If she’s had a Convenia before well maybe she will be okay. We’ve had a few cats here with sad outcomes. Convenia isn’t really the best drug for oral bacteria anyway. It’s more for skin infections. Poor Willow has been through a lot. If she’s able to get her teeth fixed up though that could really help her a lot in many ways.

She’s seen some decent blues lately, but she could do better. You’ve held the 2 units dose long enough. I think you should increase.
We started the increase this morning. She had a bit of a rough morning with some vomiting after AMPS, but was able to eat a full breakfast again shortly after, and keep it down. Just tested BG and she hit a nice green!
