Wilbur's continuing care

I think his numbers look pretty darned good. I wish Leo would become that well regulated.

John when you said he was getting into the kibble with his numbers going into the 300's that would be normal. That is what I took with his numbers being in the 300 but from what I can see his numbers come down really good with his insulin so to me that means his insulin is keeping working at the dosage you are giving him. Now don't quote me on that because I am still learning about what numbers are good and which aren't.
When you mentioned he was getting into the Kibble have you thought about slowly transitioning your other baby to canned food? In the long run it would be better for them both and at least that way, you know Wilbur will not be getting into the Kibble.

Yeah, my goal is to get the dry food switched to young again brand. that is so low carb i'd want to switch them all to it, and kill the canned food except for testing time on Wilbur. but it's an expense to start out. it's my goal though

John in the meantime just use Fancy Feast. Alot of people here use it. As I mentioned before, I use Nulo on Candi and she has always been a very finky eater. I know we used to feed her all dry food because I thought Canned Food would make them gain alot of weight but she has actually lost a good 2 lbs being on it and she isn't one to play because of her age. She is usually snoozing away or in one of our laps.
I know when she first started to have the symptoms of Diabetes I freaked out because when I saw the cost of insulin online and with my husband only on disability I knew it would be so hard to afford it. Then when she got her labs done we found out it was her thyroid. It still isn't under control like her vet wants it to be but it is getting there. Her drinking had reduced but still nothing like before. Then when she got an ulcer on her mouth, the steroid shots added to the problem. I was checking her sugar more like the blind leading the blind because I didn't know what I was doing and when he numbers started to climb, I seeked out help. It was then I found this message board and learned alot. Then when the vet put her on insulin they were a lifesaver for me. Luckily for us though, her diabetes was quick and short lived only due to the Steroid Shots. Since then and we changed her to nothing but canned food, her peeing has drastically reduced from a 25lb box of litter a month for one cat to a 42lb bag about every 2 months and as my husband will tell you that is because of her poo pooing more because of the canned food but much better than a 25lb box. So keep at it and you will get Wilbur's numbers more like you want them. Actually seeing some of the people's babies SS here and the numbers I would be asking the vet what's up when my baby is on insulin but they are experienced and know what is okay for their babies.
Good Luck and most of all don't worry.
