I think one more opinion is a reasonable idea. I’m considering it for my cat. Trying to decide if I’ll just get a different vet at the same clinic, or collect his test results and try a different clinic. Problem here is this is a small town, not many vets to choose from. The 2 best (for what that’s worth) are the ones I go to and one that used to be in that clinic so she’ll probably treat the same way, sigh... Anyway my cat has a persistent ear infection. It started 2 months ago with constipation, that took 3 enemas and lactulose to clear. Then in the X-rays they saw arthritis in his hips, thought that may be part of the cause. Then we found an ear infection. We are on the 3rd treatment for that. He seems a bit better this AM, so fingers crossed the third times the charm!
Sometimes CKD advances fast but there’s lots that can be done. My problem was the heart. One of mine with lymphoma lived with advanced CKD for a year and I lost her to the cancer. I’d geode more opinion too. Ask around your area for the best vet and if possible internist. Praying for a good result.
