Or really just looking for good options for some canned food for Todd. So far he has given me death stares when I give him canned K/D, Royal Canin Renal and any other renal diet. Won't touch 'em. However, if I open a can of low sodium tuna in water, he freaks out and wants it.. and WILL eat it if I give it to him (I give him a tiiiny bit each day as a treat).

So I'm looking for a good food, possibly a tuna based food, that would be acceptable for a CRF/diabetic kitty. I hate to sound lazy in any way, but I want a food that I don't need to add stuff to it, if that makes sense? Just give it as is... if possible.

My hope is to get him to gain a bit of weight, which I know can be very hard for CRF kitties. But I want to try.

I've gone through the lists, but even with the lists, I can't figure out what is a good choice for him. I guess I need suggestions. :/

A friend suggested the weruva, but I don't know if Todd can have that or which one he could try with his health issues.

Or heck, if anyone has a good suggestion on helping him gain some weight, let me know!

Thanks!
Sarah

Fished based foods will be too high in phosphorous; I believe you need to keep the values below 200 (ie the Phos values on Janet's charts). You should talk with your vet about phosphorous binders....

Weruva (most flavors) is mostly meat and is good for diabetics. The problem with it is that it's quite low in calories so kitties need to eat more of it to maintain weight.

Vinnie can vouch for the Weruva Chicken  He's decided he's tired of Blue Buffalo Select Spa and flaked chicken, flacked salmon, and flaked turkey and Merrick's Thanksgiving Day dinner.
