Winnie, our Himmalayan Siamese mix was diagnosed with diabetes in March 2009. He was put on insulin. We home tested and started feeding him Wellness
Core and took him off all kibbles. Gradually we had to decrease the insulin until December of '09 when he was able to go off insulin completely. Recently (around 10/7/10) he started vomiting. Initially his blood sugar was alright (119) which is higher than usual (97-103) We made an appointment with a vet at the vet group we usually go to. His vet wasn't available so he saw someone else. She tested his blood , x-rayed him and gave him an ultra sound. She thought she saw "something" in his
abdoman so did abdominal surgery. She didn't find anything but took samples of his liver, pancreas and Bowels. He has been determined to have a urinary track infection, Iritable bowel diseas as well as his diabetes. About a week later we were scheduled to go on a 10 day trip so our friends that we exchange cat sitting with took care of him and our other two very healthy cats. When we got back we tested him and he was 380 so we rushed him to the vet and he is on insulin again as well as antibiotics. How could all of this happen when to the best of our knowledge nothing changed. Has anyone heard of a problem with the Wellness food?
Thank you for any help you can suggest.
