Pax's Mom
Member Since 2019
As everyone was at one point, I am new at this. My boy was diagnosed 5/13/19 with a glucose level of 431. He started on Lantus 6/1. The reason for the 2 weeks in between diagnosis and starting Lantus was to put him on wet food cold turkey (no pun intended) and we knew that would drop his numbers. The following week he was at 323 with just the food change.
Feeding - FF Roasted Turkey Feast (Prot 56, Fat 36, carb 6) and Classic whitefish & Tuna feast (Prot 48, Fat 51, Carb 0).
Treats - freeze dried chicken 1 piece at night after shot
Activity - Indoor only, the last 2 days his energy is back and is playing with me (chasing strings up and down the stairs)
Weight - was 21 lbs now down to 20lbs. He is overweight and we are trying to get him to 16 slowly (yes, he is a large bodied cat) by increasing activity.
I sent my vet his spreadsheet, but my normal vet was out and the person covering said to increase dose to 2U (from 1). This other vet works more with dogs so I am unsure if I should take their advice as Pax's numbers have dropped.
I was also told not to shoot under 150 (I am using Relion Prime to test)
Any feedback or advice would be helpful.
Thank you
