The good (relatively) numbers and then drifting upwards happened to us recently, Tommy, and I suspect it was the insulin going bad because it was after 4 weeks. I got the new vial going just the other day and it seems to help? I just wish I could squeeze out that last drop because it's expensive, but it deteriorates and loses potency over time. My last idea to help keep it stable over time is to put a small glass over the vial in the fridge so it has a micro climate in there.

About the dosing, if he is bouncing I've been reducing and the numbers level out better, although they are a little higher than I would like (mid 200s to 300 range?) I think it's better than the rollercoaster ride.

Hi there @TommyMommy. Your cat is on Lantus and it’s dosed differently and works differently. The only way to get over bouncing is to have your cat spend as much time in normal BG numbers as possible so reducing the dose won’t ever achieve that. Another important thing is to feed the small snacks of wet food in the early portion of the cycle to help prevent steep drops.

@Suzanne & Darcy well I upped him to 5 tonight... have hand had 3 greens so far.... the odd issue I decided to weigh him today been a few weeks hes up to 16lbs.... he does steal his brothers food a lot but thats a lot of weight gain in a few months... most hes every weighted that I can remember I think maybe for a while he got to 16ish but hes usually stayed between 14-15.5 since he was about 4 thou he dropped down a lot when first got sick in 2020 but he gained it all back in like 4 or 5 months after... I think I will see about an appointment next week tomorrow will be 6 months since I took him in ...

Nice greens! You have been doing such a great job for Venge for these past six months. I am so impressed with your dedication to him.

That is a significant weight gain. I hope you can go ahead and get him tested because at least then you would either rule out or confirm acro or IAA and you would know what you are dealing with. Then there are things you could do to help Venge. He does respond to the insulin so hopefully he’s not insulin resistant due to acromegaly.
