Hi all,
My guy has a UTI and has taken to peeing on the carpet in the hallway. It was one or two per day since Monday, today it's 4 since we went to sleep, 2 within the last 3 hours. So it seems we are at near-complete litter box avoidance.
Urinalysis (sterile drawn) showed white blood cells and bacteria, it was sent for culture & sensitivity but we won't have the results til Monday or Tuesday. He's on Orbax in the meantime since it seemed to have cleared up his last UTI - at least initially. I also started him on D-mannose and corn silk for the inflammation, but he meowled during one of this morning's "episodes" so i know he's in pain.
He won't go on the bath towels I put down after cleaning the areas with Natures Miracle (which ruined our baseboards, but that can be fixed). He just finds new places. His most recent one was literally on top of one i had just cleaned and is still wet. I'm hesitant to put down pee pads for fear of thinking he'll think it's "OK" to go there, and i don't want pee pads as a long-term solution, but our entire hallway is wet with pee and natures miracle. We need something NOW. We are booking appointments to get quotes to replace the carpets with hard floors, but in the meantime we are worried about the subfloor due to how much pee we all know unregulated diabetics put out. Plus he's CKD, plus he's drinking an insane amount of water right now.
Any solutions that worked in the short term while waiting for meds to kick in?
