Hello L&L Land,

We've missed all of our friends here and will try to check on all of you more frequently. But I must say Noah is enjoying life at the Falls. Can't believe he has been off insulin for two months now. It allowed me to sleep in during my vacation and not going to lie, IT WAS VERY NICE! His numbers are pretty flat and steady, and I think I'm ok with testing only once a week (NOAH HAS APPROVED THIS PLAN :cat:). It was difficult to put the pokey down, but I'm doing pretty good now. However, the first couple of days were rough for this addict :banghead:!

And also thank you to members who encourage me to continue with Noah on insulin as long as we could. I must say I was anxious to get to the trial, but so glad we waited and from the looks of it, Noah seems to have a pretty strong remission so far.

Seeing a lot of new names, but will try to check in and offer encouragements (since I'm not any help with dosing). I remember how difficult the first month is, so newbies, IT DOES GET BETTER.

I'm having trouble getting rid of my insulin, and would hate for it to go to waste, so if anyone is near OTTAWA, ONTARIO (CANADA), please send me a message and I would be happy to give my insulin away.

Lastly, does anyone have any food recommendations for FREEZE-DRIED RAW? Noah has only wanted the Nature's Variety nuggets in the past couple of days (doesn't want his Primal anymore :() and I was wondering if people knew of other brands I could try. I don't have the value for the Nature's Variety freeze-dried raw, but Noah's numbers have been consistent on that food. If anyone has the values, that would be appreciated! I know I'm lucky he loves this food and doesn't mind eating it for every meal every single day, but I'm worried he'll stop eating it (like the Primal) and then I'm going to be stuck. He stills doesn't want wet food, and the dry food in Canada is WAY TOO HIGH!

Thank you to all of you and sending hugs to our friends here in L&L Land.

Mélanie and Noah

Hi Melanie, good to hear from you. Have you tried any of the Stella and Chewy's freeze dried raw. I've been known to use is as a food topper. Noah isn't the first cat I have heard that prefers the NV to the Promal.

Hi Wendy! Thank you for the recommendation. Noah and his brother are both IN LOVE with the Stella and Chewy's, but a member had posted here that the carbs content in that food was very high. Noah does go a bit higher (but still in normal numbers) with this food, so I'm not sure what to do. I sure wish companies would give out the carbs info. I feel like even after I find values, I'm never sure if it's the correct values :(

I just had a look at the new food list by Dr. Pierson and the nuggets are on that list. (5%). SO WOUHOU on that. Hopefully, he keeps liking that food. I'm just scare about not having a back up. He doesn't get his cat milk anymore and I think he's punishing me by being extra picky and difficult.

Stella & Chewy is LC too. I got the values about a year ago, I'll try and dig them up and post tomorrow.

Glad you and Noah are enjoying the falls!

Hi Melanie,
Great to have a Noah update, it's great to hear from the kitties at the falls, as a newbie I liked hearing from kitties that were doing well OTJ, it gave me hope when I was starting out.

LOL you're a better woman than me I still test daily (nearly 18mths on), George says it's OK as long as he gets his freeze dried pokie treat:).

I'm still jealous of Noah's flat curves. I'm so glad he is doing well at the Falls.

Oops. I see they were posted. Has someone posted homemade raw or cooked recipes for diabetic/CKD cats (@Wendy&Neko )? Sorry to sneak this in here.

I do see a thread discussion on homemade food in the intro sticky in the food section. And foodfurlife.com has recipes. I am a vegetarian. What I am willing to do for love of a cat!

It's great to hear that Noah is loving life at the Falls and you get to sleep in! There is a pay off for all the hard work and frayed nerves.
