Hi.My cat has stomatitis. He used to be a stray. We took him in 3 years ago because we had all his teeth extracted and wanted him to stay indoors. For 3 years, it flared up once a year. Each time, once a year, we gave him Depo-Medrol steroids, antibiotics, and painkillers. The last time was a year ago, and it cleared up without steroids... It was quiet for a year. This time, a month ago, the pain flared up again.
This time we gave steroids as well. After the treatment, the pain went away immediately. But diabetes started. Before this, he was completely healthy. His blood sugar was 150. Now his blood sugar is 500 on the blood test.
Hi. We started a treatment of one unit
We started giving him insulin. Twice a day. It's not easy.
Is there a chance that the effect caused by the steroid will wear off and he will go back to being non-diabetic?
Hi. We started a treatment of one unit twice a day of insulin. We check his urine daily with a test strip. In case there is no sugar in the urine, should we skip the insulin? The vet recommended feeding him Purina Pro Plan Veterans/Diabetic Management (DM) dry food. Should we avoid it?We are giving him Fancy Feast Pate every day. How much should we give him per day?
Thanks
