got a +4 last night of 179 but AMPS was 353! I shot .4 but where the heck are these 300's coming from?

IMHO? she is over having too little insulin to work with. I know you upped the dose a hair. just watch it work for awhile I guess. There is really only one direction Barbara.....>6?

You are in the most frustrating part of this dance, Barbara - well, except for that horrible first few weeks when you are trying to learn everything at once. I agree with Lori - a little higher. The other thing that sometimes helps is to feed the lower end of the carb list to see if you get movement down. So, if your normal carb food is 7%, see if you can try 3-5%. (Fish only a few times a week though...)

Welcome back Sue! I hope you had a good vacation!

PMPS 354

I just don't get why she had all those low #'s then she started shooting up again. When I was shooting more insulin I was getting AMPS #'s that I couldn't shoot & leave her. Should I just go up to .5 tonight? And what about that lower # at +4 last night?

I am thinking the 148 at +4 on May 1st was because of the nice low Pmps. No, I would give today's dose a few days and do the increase when you will be around and can get some mid cycle numbers. I think you have room to increase soon, when you are home to feed any drops. It is so hard to do these mini doses and figure out variations in the numbers you get - it's like trying to cook teeny tiny cupcakes with mini measuring spoons and then adjusting the recipe for each batch. You are doing great with a very challenging situation. It'll work eventually.

I had to feed her, shoot & leave for a bit. I went ahead & increased to .5 but now I see you said I should stay for a few days. So should I go back to .4 tomorrow morning?

I would think you will be fine - get a test in when you get home. If things are okay tonight, I think I would stick with the .5 for a few cycles and try for some mid cycle numbers - before bed, before leaving home and right as you walk in the door. The dose changes make this harder to figure out so if you can find a safe dose that you can stick with for awhile, that is what I would try.

Sorry, my advice was confusing. Trying to get back into the swing of things.....

Thanks Sue! You're not confusing...it's just me! I'm sure you are overwhelmed just trying to catch up to all of us.

The .4u on 325 last night looks really good, you were headed to a nice nadir judging by the spot test. I would stick with the .4 on a similar PS. You will probably have a lowish AMPS tomorrow but that's ok. It's all data gathering and you now have some experience with lower PS's.

You're doing great.

I'm not sure if this is the explanation, but we have seen before there seems to be a snowball effect in either direction. If they get really good #s they can run with that and their insulin needs can go down very quickly. If they start seeing higher #s and no greens, their insulin needs can start going up. I think it has to do with how much their pancreas is pitching in - it seems to gain or lose ground very quickly, like even in a day or two.

Agree, you at some point have to go with the numbers...as in shooting the numbers...once you prove that you are not in rebound.
And................the numbers do change. Sometimes they get worse before they get better.
