I'm in CA visiting my mother. Talbot is in good hands with DH. He's been running in the upper 200's and eating well. :-D

Poor Xena is very sad with her mom away!

Also posted on the health board with a question about my mom's cats. They are peeing outside the litter box (on the back of the leather couch). We've reached the point of giving them sedatives and have a vet visit tomorrow. Any input on drug choices would be very helpful!

Prozac can work really well for inappropriate urinating I use it for a stud male here to keep him from spraying and he has had no side effects I know elavil can also be used not sure which is better some vets recommend buspar as well just seems to depend on the vets pref. I would also recommend the feliway plug-ins they can help with this as well.

Glad Talbot is doing well with DH in charge. As for Xena, it's nice to be missed and she'll be so happy to see you when you get home. I hope you have a great visit with your mother and wish her good luck with her kitties. I've heard many kitties do well on Prozac for this peeing problem.

Hi Melinda! Stopping in to let you know I answered you on Health! Civvie Ralph was on Buspar. He did good on that!

Hi, Hi, HI, So good to see you and hear Talbot is doing good at home with DH. Hope your having a good time visiting and good luck with the vet visit. If you can post about it I would be interested to find out what they come up with.
Maybe the lb isn't big enough for them, was there a change in litter. Could be a few things, interesting that they are all doing it. Maybe one did and the rest are thinking, "hey this is ok".
Will watch for ya.
Sandy

I also have heard that Prozac can work well for IE, but I don't have any experience with it. I'm glad Talbot and Xena are doing well, it's good to read an update!

i'm guessing the upset with the other kitties is probably making them need more litterboxes coz they'd be more sensitive to the other cats' smell. hope the problem is resolved soon with the meds added.

glad to see you here, melinda. love to your mom and rest of your family.

When my kitties did that a few years back, I moved the litter boxes around a bit and started using a product called Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract. It's a rather pricey litter they sell in pet stores but it seemed to work. I mixed it with some regular litter to make it last longer and then eventually I started using regular litter only.

Sometimes they don't go all the way in the box and we have little accidents, but you can tell they were at least trying to use the box.
