Greetings all,
Buddy is 14 years old & has been an intermittent diabetic for several years. After a frustrating spring of non-regulation on Humulin, we embarked on the Lantus "Tight Regulation" protocol in mid-July including a switch from dry food to high protein canned. We also resumed a regimen of methylcobalamin (3mg BID) to try to stem the tide of hind leg weakness that was becoming increasingly pronounced. Things were going OK, more good numbers than bad but rather inconsistent, dosage peaking at 7.5 units a couple of weeks ago, then all of a sudden last weekend he seemed to turn a corner & start sprinting towards his old self! First it was becoming more vocal about demanding food, then going outside for walks which he had all but abandoned over the last few months, then it was jumping up on his favorite chair this morning that he hadn't been on since last winter. His demeanor is much more reminiscent of better days & his dosage has dropped down to 5 units which keeps him consistently around 100 mg/dL.
I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth, we are absolutely thrilled to have him feeling better after an extended period of despair, I am just curious if anyone else has experienced such an abrupt reversal.
Steve
