I thought those of you who remember me and Sunshine would like to know that Sunny is now OTJ! Woohoo! :woot:

I'm not the one who did this magical deed, though - that was the marvelous Jenna, who agreed to keep Sunny as her foster kitty. Which was a huge relief to me, since it meant that Sunny could continue to get the level of care she need and deserves...and look where it got her! I'm so excited for the pretty girl!

For those of who you have no idea who Sunshine is (or who I am, for that matter!): She was a diabetic foster kitty whom I took on with her diabetic "brother" Jibbit (GA) in January of 2013. Diabetic Cats in Need kindly took them on in December of 2013. She had a very scary encounter with DKA last October, but she pulled through. Jenna, another DCIN foster mom, kept her following the DKA to be sure she got proper monitoring and care, which was hard for me with my schedule (full-time job and PhD student). I was thrilled when she offered to keep Sunny, because I was afraid to have her come back to me. I love that precious girl, and I want her to have the best home possible, which is not with me. I cried to give her up, but it was the best thing to do for her.

And now she's OTJ! Hooray! Let's hear it for Little Miss Sunshine and Mama Jenna!!! :):bighug:

(She's also still available for adoption from DCIN! http://fdmb-cin.blogspot.com/2013/12/sunshine-in-va.html)

WOOT WOOT!!!!! Way to go SunnyGirl! Amy - even tho' she was with Jenna when she finally gave up the juice, you had a BIG hand in it!!!

HUGS AND YARD DANCE!!!

Congrats to Sunshine and Mama Jenna!

Amy, I followed your story with Jibbit on the former Relaxed Forum, you are to be congratulated for all you did for both kitties! Hugs to you! :bighug:

Congratulations what fantastic news:). Will anyone her adopts her be told to keep her on a low carb food (assuming she was on one) etc so that she hopefully remains diet controlled?

Thanks, everyone!

Yes, Phlika29, DCIN will absolutely be informing whoever is lucky enough to adopt her to keep her on a low-carb diet, as we advise all our clients. She's been eating Weruva Asian Fusion exclusively for the last few months. Jenna discovered that it was the one food she would eat consistently. A big problem I had was getting her to eat ANYTHING, let alone a good low-carb food. It seems that all she needed was a good long time for her pancreas to heal (her former person had her on Glipizide, which probably did more harm than good), a low-carb food that she was willing to eat all the time, and a caregiver who knew how to give her microscopic doses of Levemir and not panic if she had asymptomatic low numbers. A magic formula!

Congratulations Amy and Sunshine! I don't think we've met before but i had to stop by and say
whoooo hooooot!!
