Steps or ramp better for old arthritic cats?

Hi all! While I'm sure there are individual differences, in general are steps or ramps better for old arthritic cats to reach sofa/bed etc? What are your experiences? Thank you.

I wouod say a ramp since it at their e the cat can pick a stride lenght best for them but with a step the height is fixed. I have both and my three-legged one likes the steps wheil the other the ramp.
