Re: SS

Go back to google docs and you should be able to copy the url address for your spreadsheet.
Once you have it copied, come back here, go to your control panel.

In your control panel, click on the "profile" tab, then click on "edit signature". Right click and "Paste" it into the box where your signature would go. That should do it. You can hit the Preview button under that box to see what it will look like. Then hit "submit" and you're done.

Hopefully that wasn't too confusing. It's much easier to do than to tell someone how to do it!

Re: SS

I have a mac, when I copied my code and pasted it on google document it came out with the code on it.

Re: SS

Actually that was for the profile I was trying to put up. I can't find the URL for the SS. As you can tell, I am not very computer literate :(

Re: SS

Looks like I figured out the SS sheet. Not sure how. Profile still not working, will look more into that :)

Re: SS

SS is working great:-)
I never did a profile so not much help to you with that...

Re: SS

To create a profile.
log in.
click on user control panel. that is just under the feline diabetes logo at the top of the page.

There will be a bunch of tabs (look like files from the file cabinet)
click on profile tab.
you want to go to edit signature and you can add lines to tell what you are doing/ add the link to your ss.
most would like to see your dosage and what you are feeding.
be sure and hit the submit button to save what you have.
I can also tell you how to add a picture if you want.
It took me 2 days to figure out how to re-size the picture so that the website would take a picture file.

Re: SS

@Squeem3

I followed those instructions and when I pasted it onto the google doc it copied the code also. I have a mac and the command buttons don't seem to do what you guys are telling me to do????

Re: SS

The instructions do include the Mac commands. Do Command+C (copy) and Command+V (paste) not work? If not, can you do it the other way? Highlight the code, go to the Edit option in your web browser (in the toolbar at the top), select the Copy option. Paste the code into the HTML section of Google Documents (go back to Edit in the web browser toolbar, select Paste). Note: the Coolification code needs to go into the special Edit HTML pop up window of your Google Document, not the main page you see when you open the document for editing. It's Part C of the instructions.

Is there a way you can briefly use a PC to do this? Like at the local library?

@Squeem

I have spent way too much time trying to get profile up. Done with it. By the way it is now called Google Drive and it doesn't have an HMTL button.
Glad that I was able to get SS up. That is way more important. I tried to delete this post but found out I can't. Thanks for your help though :)

I can still access the old Google Docs, not the new Google Drive thing confused_cat

There is still a way to get a profile. It's just won't be as fancy as the if you used the Coolification code.

Use this as a template: http://www.felinediabetes.com/phorum5/profile.php?8,1888

Create a new Google Word-type document and type right into the page that shows up. The follow everything in Part C #5 (click on "share" on upper right. then click on "publish as a web page....) onwards to publish the document, get the correct link to share, and putting the link into your FDMB signature.

Some people here use a similar online document to make a profile. I can't remember what that web site is, though.

No, that's the Coolication one that is referenced in the profile instructions.

There's another web site similar to Google Docs that a couple people here used to create a profile. You can add pictures, HTML and other things. I'll try to find one of these profiles and see what web site they're on.

Figured it out

Yes, it looks like the new verion of Google Docs has taken away the Eidt HTML option: http://support.google.com/docs/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=176442

But it looks like you can create a Google Site (an acutal mini web site, not a document like the SS) and put the Coolification code there. This member did and she added pictures of her cats as well.

Basic instructions:

Go to http://fdmbcoolification.blogspot.com/ to fill out the info and generate your Coolification HTML code. Copy that code.

Go to https://sites.google.com and sign in.

Click on the orange Create button.

Select the Blank template option.

Give your site a name ("Kitty's FDMB Profile" or something).

The next line has a box for you to give your site a unique name. There is a box after the https: //sites.google.com/site/ for you to enter text. Something like https:// sites.google.com/site/Kittysprofile If another site has the same name, you will be given an error message. You can click on the back button of the web browser to go back to change the name for your site.

You have an option to select a theme. Leave this blank.

Enter the security code into the box.

Click on the orange Create button at the topof the page.

On the next page, click on the pencil icon at the top right to edit the page.

Click on Insert at the top of the page toolbar.

Select HTML box.

Paste your Coolification code into the box that appears.

Click on Save.

You will returned to the editing page and will see a gray-ish box that says HTML box instead of your Coolification code or actual profile. That's ok!

Click on the blue Save button at the top right side of the page.

You will now see your profile.

Copy the URL in the web browser address bar.

Come here to FDMB and go to User Control Panel. The link for that is usually at the very top of the board. felinediabetes.com/FDMB/ucp.php

Click on Profile.

Click on Edit Signature.

Pate your URL into the box.

To ensure that the URL will show up correctly in your signature and be clickable, highlight the entire URL. Click on the URL button that is in the box toolbar. You will now see and with your URL in the middle. Example:
Code:
[url]https:// sites.google.com/site/Kittysprofile[/url]

Click on Submit to save it.

To have your signature automatically show up when you post, click on Board Preferences. Click on Edit Posting Defaults. Select Yes for Attach my signature by default.

Click on Submit to save the setting.
