Greetings, LantusLanders! Thanks again to everyone here for your kindness and support both while Snoopy was alive, and on his passing. I hope you are well, with all Ps firmly in place for both kitties and beans. I just wanted to drop in to let you know that I've -- unexpectedly  -- adopted a new kitty.

Since Snoopy's passing, I've maintained that I was not ready for another cat, did not want one yet, and maybe not ever. I miss my cuddly boy, but I was leery of trying to "replace" him only to be disappointed when the new kitty didn't measure up to my subconscious hopes. I was also still burned out from the intense daily responsibility of his end-of-life care, and having just moved, I have a new commute that adds time to my day. It's been nice to only have Spot to worry about -- she may not be the slightest bit cuddly, but she is sweet and affectionate in her own way, and low-maintenance.

Fast-forward to a week ago, when my housemate and I stopped at Petco so she could buy food for her cat. A local rescue was doing adoptions, and since I had time to kill and was strong in my conviction that I wasn't. ready. yet, I headed over to look at the cute. From halfway across the store, my vision zoomed in on a cage holding two gorgeous young Siamese mixes. TARGET ACQUIRED: LOCKED. I made a bee-line, sat down on the floor in front of their cage, and started to waffle.

To make a long story short, her name is Sophia, and she's amazing.

She's 5 months old, a heartbreaker with lilac points, gorgeous blue eyes, and a high squeaky voice that she's not at all shy about using. She does kamikaze leaps to attack whatever catches her eye (usually my toes, in bed) and she purrs like a motorboat during the few times she's not in motion. Spot is warming to her new sister surprisingly quickly, and has already taught her some manners -- youthful exuberance is no excuse for bad behavior, after all. (Snoopy would approve, as he taught Spot the same things when she was Sophia's age.)

I'm looking forward to raising Sophia using the knowledge I gained thanks to these boards -- she's already transitioning to a grain-free canned diet (currently EVO + Wellness) -- and other than a parasite that she's on ABs for (Coccidia), Vettybean has declared her healthy as a horse.

xoxo

Congratulations on your new baby....she is absolutely adorable and LOVE the name!!! Here's wishing you many, many happy healthy years with Sophia.

Congratulations on your new addition! She's absolutely beautiful! I've always had a soft spot for Siamese...tho I've never actually owned one. They're just gorgeous!

Thank you! I debated names for several days before finally settling on Sophia (her rescue name was Bianca, but that seemed a tad fussy for this kid). Once I tried it on it seemed to fit her perfectly -- elegant, but not too stuffy. :-D

Well boy,...she is absolutely gorgeous!! What a beautiufl kitty!
I am laughing at your iron will. SO glad you had it all sorted out.

Yeah, well one look at Sophia and that was all history. So glad Spot is accepting her.
Congratulations to you both...she is a beautiufl girl but she is also very lucky to have you stop
by to petco that fateful day!

Snoopy was a Siamese mix too, though his tabby stripes overshadowed his points, so it wasn't obvious until he opened his mouth. I love the gabby, demanding personality, though -- and Sophia has that in spades. I'm completely smitten with her! I can't believe I found just who I wanted -- exactly when I wasn't looking for her.

LOL I am laughing like crazy at you because I did the same thing!
I went to Petsmart just to get some foods, and noticed a beautiful longhair orange kitty in the ARK rescue setup at the back of the store, and when I saw that she was a female, well, Apple Blossom had herself a new home.

With 2 cats with acromegaly and another crazy black kitty at home, I sure did not need a 4th kitty, but again like you found, the new addition fit in much better than I expected!

She is one super gorgeous kitty; I am very glad for you.

I'm grinning like a fool for you! Congrats. There is nothing like having a kitten at home to keep you entertained and to warm your heart. Much happiness and here's to a healthy happy kitten that Snoopy would would give his stamp of approval to.

Hi Nikki

Sophia is gorgeous!
Congrats to you!
She is one lucky kitty to have found her way to your heart and home.

Gosh she is absolutely gorgeous! So happy for you! May she always be healthy, isn't it awesome that you can start her on such a good diet in the beginning!? Way to go!

Oh, how awesome.... I'm smiling ear to ear. What a beauty Sophia is! I'm so excited for you and what a lucky bean you are that Sophia found you when you weren't even looking. Sneaky little thing! Love this SO MUCH!

Congratulations, new mommy-bean!
