We switched Sissy to the ondanestron and she is more social, wanting to be around us more and even had started eating better. So much that I thought the ondanestron would do the trick but no such luck, started not eating again last night. So just got off the phone with her vet, she is calling in the cyproheptadine. She started to tell me there is another one that works better...mirtazapine..and I said, no...that's what she's been on and is doing nothing for her. She said well the only concern I have with the cyproheptadine is it makes cats sleepy and they don't want to eat then either. So?? Has that been your experience? I told her I had questions about the next steps to find out what I should do next as far as testing and she said she would have to call me back because she had to see their next patient. Since our trip down for labs after her ultrasound I haven't heard from anyone down there, the fructosamine came back as you know but nobody had called about it so I told her I wanted to talk about her test results that have come back since the other day...so hopefully I can get some questions answered on that. She is still assuming I'm not giving her insulin, but I am giving her one unit and it's keeping her low because she's not eating much. This morning I skipped the shot altogether because she would NOT eat and syringing has gotten to be a terrible ordeal, she is fighting it like crazy. I have only gotten a little baby food into her today and dreading the next time I have to do it. I am going to wait on my husband to get home because it's no longer a one person job. I think it's stressing her out so much too that now she's even more determined not to eat. She was 93 a little bit ago when I checked her. I have been putting benefiber on some dry food and letting her have that every day because her poop is just SO mushy and we're going to have to spray her off in the shower tonight because she's not cleaning her rear end good enough. (She won't eat any wet food now so we had a tiny bit of her dry left that's about 14% carbs. I only give a tablespoon or so of it just for the benefiber to coat and she'll it.)
As I was typing this up, cvs called...and said that they had an issue while trying to fill the rx...so they called my vet for clarification and just "got a lot of attitude" and she hung up on the cvs technician! I am floored. The cvs lady said they had trouble finding the dr's info in their system so just needed some info...and that they got it and I could pick it up. She said that the vet had told her that she was going to call me and the cvs lady said she just wanted me to know that even if the dr said she was going to send it elsewhere that they did have it filled and ready for me. I've been using cvs for years, they are just a few blocks from us and we know most of the people in there, I can't imagine the vet hanging up on any of them...geez! But...I as floored as I am, I guess I'm not surprised...I told you guys she's "the expert" and there really is no talking to her.
