so far so good with the N insulin. Very uh, Vetsulin like, for us that isn't too bad. Unfortunately, I have been sick all week with some horrible cold or something and haven't tested much but, he seems to be doing good. I do have to watch food intake timing etc, upped the dose a tad and it seems to have helped considerably. Think we'll leave it the way it is for now. Just wanted to let you guys know how we are doing. Hope you are all doing well and have a great weekend. laptop_smiley

What does a UG of .5 equate to in BG? Do you know? I am just wondering if his PS numbers are staying in the 200s. If so, it is looking like a nice, fairly shallow curve, which must make him feel better.

Re: UG tests

Sheila this site can explain the UG testing better that I can... http://www.sugarpet.net/urine.html

Simba usually is at the brown/green 1/2 reading on the stick when he is doing well. Highest #'s between 300-400. Very seldom has he gone below that. If the results are in the darker brown ranges that means he has hit the + 400's since last pee. Ideal would be in the .25 or less. UG test results indicate glucose that has spilled over into the urine since the last urination. UG testing is cheap, easy and can be checked everytime the cat pees. It is also a good way for someone to check their pet or themselves at home if they are concerned they may have diabetes. Any color change from negative means there is a problem and one should seek medical attn. (I have Simba trained to use tp in his box, makes collecting a sample easy. Sometimes he goes outside so that is an opportunity missed.) Still doing pretty good here.
