Sometimes there can be a transiet, paradoxical response to dose changes. Over in the Lantus foum, they call it "new dose wonkiness".
Another reason glucose may rise is called bouncing. Bouncing happens when the glucose drops to an unfamiliar level, OR the glucose drops rapidly, OR the glucose drops too low. This triggers compensatory hormones which release stored glucose (glucogen) which raises the glucose back up and then some. It may take up to 3 days for bouncing to resolve, so you just have to wait it out.
