Thanks to all those that responded- I sure appreciate the honesty and suggestions.

Now my question is for those that ARE shooting back in but you say never put the needle back into the cart once it has been removed....

HOW THE HECK do you get bubbles out of the syringe without removing from cart to do so and then re inserting needle to shoot back excess?!

I've bent the needle both times I have tried and cannot do it properly without taking needle out and then reinserting! :o

You overdraw and only squeeze out enough to get the dose "about right." Then you fine tune the dose by squeezing off drops in to the air or wherever they end up. Mine usually just drip over side of needle. Trying to fine tune dose with needle still in cartridge is too difficult and yes, you will bend the needle. The drops I squeeze out might amount to 5U over 3 months, but it's negligible.

Reinserting the needle will also damage it microscopically. Somewhere there are pictures of needles used more than once. They look bad even after 1 use.

oh. Well, I already do that....pull just past the mark, take needle out and let off droplets....probably 1 or 2 drops for each shot's worth.

Are the rest of you pulling huge amounts past what you need? I am cornfused.

I guess it doesn't matter....I'd be saving about 2 drops per shot ( .2u) if I pushed it back into cart, but I don't seem to be able to get bubble out of syringe without taking out of cart ad flicking it, so....guess I keep doing what I've benn doing... :?:

I always shoot back into the cart. Before i insert the syringe into the cart, I push/pull the plunger out a couple of times to remove any air. I have no problems with air bubbles. When I pull the insulin into the syringe, I twist the plunger. Use every cart to the last drop.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Using a cart to the last drop. I love to hear that!

Also nice to hear from you Terri. As always, I hope all is going well with you.

late to this party...

I do what Terri does, except I pull the plunger past where it needs to be, push it back in allowing for any air bubbles (meaning a bit extra), withdraw the needle and then pull back on the plunger a bit so all air bubbles go to the top (needle is still facing ceiling) - and then twist plunger to get the right dose - slowly so that air goes out first and then maybe a few beads of insulin. I never used to have air bubble problems as much as I have with the flex pen (over the plain cart). There are a lot of bubbles in the pen itself and I actually stuck a syringe into it with inverted from normal to pull off some air. It worked, but now I have more bubbles again. Sigh...

Hey everyone!!! So good to "see" you all are still on here which (I think) means all your diabetics are doing well? Poppy continues to plug along. :) He's been doing pretty good actually. Where do you all purchase your Lev cartridges? I just purchased a package of 3 online for $160 plus $10 shipping so $170 total. Does that sound like a lot? The last time I purchased it was $145 total which was July 2009, so 3 cartridges has lasted us more than a year.

Hi Heather! Good to see you too!

I got my last cartridges from Canada. Is that where you got yours? Did you only get three carts for that price? I got five for the $170 total.

Drop in more often! Glad Poppy is still plugging along. Same as Tigger. :)

Wow, you got 5! Yes I only received 3. I got mine from CanadaDrugsOnline.com. Where did you get yours? Glad Tigger is doing well. ;)

That is where I got mine too. And you only got three carts? That seems odd.

I didn't even see an option to choose 5. They only offered 3 cartridges or 3 flexpens. Are you sure it wasn't CanadaDrug.com or CanadaDrugPharmacy.com? There are quite a few canadian suppliers it looks like...

Still has 5 carts for $160.

Thanks Sheila for jumping in. Yes, that is where I got mine from when you guys sent me there. I didn't know there were other Canadian sites Heather, just that one.

I am sorry Heather. This doesn't sound right at all!

Canadian Drugs Online FAX 1=866-364-9983 That is where I faxed the RX to and I also talked to them on the phone beforehand.
