I'm happy to report my youngest (13 yr old) son did Diamond's pmps. I also taught him how to draw the insulin and showed how where and how to shoot. This is fabulous for me! Be for his Dx and neuropathy set in, I was the only one he would let near him. He hid all day and hissed and ran away if other family members (even me sometimes) would get near him. His neuropathy has made him very immobile. I have a bed set up for him under the kitchen table and even a litter box in the kitchen. If he's not under the table he is on the stairs. Since he can't run away now he has been getting used to everyday life going on around him. He still doesn't like my 2 older kids but is ok (most of the time) with Riley, the youngest. Riley has been showing interest in caring for Diamond so, I went with it. Clearly we have to practice more but, I'm so glad to a plan B if I can't be home to test and shoot. :D

You’re so lucky! I can’t even get my 37 yr old man-child to help!
I pretty sure my man-child is jealous of the cats. He listens to me when I explain what I’m learning about Feline Diabetes. And notices when Diamond’s numbers are high. But he’d never crack open a can of food or scoop a box.
Although, he’ll never admit it, I know he is very fond of our civvie Peaches. He is her “person”. Last February, she ran under my son while he was mid air in a jump. He accidentally landed on her leg. She ended up with a broken ulna. My husband said, “Do whatever it takes to fix my cat. And never repeat what I said”. Why do some guys think it’s not manly or something to like cats?

Mine will help with litter and feeding so I guess I should be grateful. He just has a thing about needles and won’t get involved. Smokey is not exactly the nicest cat, and now that he’s feeling better he’s back to his old habits of glaring at my husband for a few minutes and then biting him for no apparent reason. I think he’s confused about how to play but he’s always been unpredictable like that. But occasionally he will get in his lap and they are friends for the whole 2 minutes it lasts!
