Yes gave him a shot
Wow. He needs another dose reduction! Keep testing. Did you get a reading yet?So got 43 on the rest giving him so high carbs and testing him again in 15/30 min
Any time he is in the 40s use high carb food and not low carb food. Then test in 15 minutes. If not rising then give more HC with a drop of karo syrup added and test in another 15 minutes. When they’re in the 40s we can’t mess around with low or even medium carb food.Today he dipped pretty low with 42 and gave him half a can of food instead of his usual one quarter. T
Also. Waiting an hour is too long when in the 40s. The procedure is HC in a small amount and test in 15-20 minutes (but I am being repetitive.)so checking him in a hour to see if he went up
Give a teaspoon HC food please nowHe is 48 now
63!Test in 30 and post here
Yes. Give a little LC and test in 30… which is now about 15 minutes moreTest again in 30?
Good. How long ago was the last HC that you gave and what hour in the cycle are you?He is up to 101
Apologies! Took a moment to just breathe. The last one was around his +7 and three hours agoGood. How long ago was the last HC that you gave and what hour in the cycle are you?
Yes and thank thank you! For helping during it. I was trying not, but his love for food does help in those moments. You must have disappeared on me to take a break! New dose for Sevy: 2.25. CongratulationsThis time let’s give that dose plenty of time to settle so that we make sure we understand the full impact of the dose. Sevy may still have other plans though… maybe he will want another reduction (and you will know to give HC next time if he’s in the 40s.) I like how you don’t panic though! It helps a lot to keep a cool head.
Shot time is now around 7:50 due to the waiting. I might have gotten the numbers wrong thenThank you for all the help, Suzanne. I talked on the phone with Joha today while she was dealing with the 40s, and she was cool as a cucumber! She mentioned that Sev was mostly just sleeping in her room in the 40s, and not begging constantly for food, which is a little surprising - my Bell is ravenously hungry and lets me know when she’s low. Good news is that he seemed to have an appetite for all the food coming his way today.
Johanna can confirm, but to answer your question about the 101 - I believe Sev’s shot time is in the 6:30 - 7:30 range, so that would be around +9ish I think?
It isOh whoops, Joha beat me to it! Is Sevy’s shot time around 8 now?
This actually worried me. She said he was sleepy acting.Sev was mostly just sleeping in her room in the 40s, and not begging constantly for food, which is a little surprising - my Bell is ravenously hungry and lets me
So he was sleepy but would respond no problem but liked to stayed in his seat with the heating pad. Would even let me bring him the food which usually that would be how he acted when he was a bit higher. This actually worried me. She said he was sleepy acting.
Yes! I hadn’t the medium didn’t do much sadly. Is this the first time you’ve used higher carbs?
You also got some good data from today. I think you fed some medium in the 40s and he didn’t budge much. High carbs got him in the sixties but didn’t skyrocket his numbers.
So maybe the dose was just that strong or he may not be as sensitive to the carbs as some cats. Gravy boy!
Curious where he will land tonight at shot time. Wouldn’t be surprised if it is higher than normal
