I am driving Sassy 12 hours to Bangkok soon (boat and drive). She had hypoglycemia on sunday followed by 8 hours of seizures...I couldnt stop no matter how hard I tried!!! There is a very professional hospital there with specialist for the brain. This is the creme de la creme of animal hospitals. They even have hotel rooms next to the ICU for worried mommy's and daddy's! They should be able to help much more and do scans and MRI's to see if there is hope for sassy. She is in almost in a waking coma now...but still eats food, and responds to pets of her ears and nose! So thank you for all your well wishes and help over the last week! You are all little kitty angels! Thank you!!!

Provisions? I have a private van with a driver. We are going in style. The doctor on the island put a catheter in for sassy (so can just take the top off for her to pee). Have food in syringes, insulin, pee pads, blankets, glucose syringes and seizure syringes. Our van is almost like a boat…cause it’s monsoon season :)

Dear Cassie, sending my prayers for a safe journey for you and Sassy. I am so happy to hear you have all the provisions needed for her care during this 9 hour trip. Sassy couldn’t have a more loving dedicated mom to care for her. I will be praying for miracles that Sassy’s condition can be turned around. You have many of us giving our love, support and prayers. Sassy and I have arrived at the Bangkok hospital after 25 hours of driving. Doctor gave her pretty decent prognosis. Said her vitals are normal, part of the brain is still working cause she can respond to pets on the face. She is blind and deaf at the moment. But he said because it’s not a full coma and somethings are working it’s easier to recover from. He also mentioned that if paralysis would either come from a brain tumor or a hypoglycemia. And I said I knew it was hypo…cause she just had a scan not long ago and was fine. And I was their watching the hypo numbers first hand…so knew it was from that. He said that could have a chance to fix it. Anyway they have her in an oxygen tank now with some brain swelling meds and some other goodies.
We will see the neuro doctor tomorrow
Other goodies.
 
Thank God you're there, that's very encouraging news that she responds to pets to her face. I pray that her sight and hearing comes back. Poor little girl. My heart breaks for her. As soon as I woke up this morning you and Sassy was the first thing on my mind ,I had to see if you made it there. You are one Amazing Mom and never gave up on your precious Sassy.She's a fighter! Please try and get some rest. I'm glad they have hotel rooms next to the ICU so you can be close to her. Lots of prayers for tomorrow when you see the neurologist♥

The kitty I mentioned earlier that had a very severe hypo was very similar to Sassy and progress was slow and gradual. I remember when she started to get up and walk. It was very wobbly at first. It was not on this forum but a different fb page about 18 months ago. I will try and find it.
 
I'm so relieved to hear you and Sassy made it to your destination and that she's being cared for. I'm also relieved to hear her prognosis is good! It may be a long road but you and Sassy have got what it takes!! Eddie and I are with:bighug::bighug::):bighug::bighug::cat::bighug::bighug: you all the way.

Sassy is doing well! Enjoying lots of pets. I spoke with the neuro doctor earlier…she was not quite as encouraging as the other doctor but I still hold hope. She said because sassy can move her face but not her body means that the seizures damaged her brain not consistent. So she thinks (even though I explained the hypo episode very clearly), that maybe there is something else that is the cause of the seizure. Like a brain tumor or something pushing on her brain only on 1 side. So we are running a CT scan and MRI. So we can see if there is something in her brain. And if there is not can see what damage is done in the brain already very clearly to know if there is hope. Will be about 7pm thicken time for the test. They do have to anesthetize her for the scans. But no other choice really.
On the bright side she is lifting her head up for the first time by herself. And I think her hearing is starting to come back a little. The doctor said he thinks here hearing is fine…but it’s the brain not processing what she is hearing.
Anyway she has a team of experts here…About 12 in the ICU alone day/night, plus the specialists. 7 floors of a animal hospital!
So hoping for the best!

Wonderful to see the photos! She is such a sweetheart.
She does seem to be responding to your kiss on her face!
I think after any brain injury, progress is slow, and moving her head first before her body seems logical to me.
People who have had brain surgery or an injury talk about the extreme tiredness and lethargy afterwards that takes time to resolve. I would imagine it would be the same for cats.

Has she had anymore seizures since you've been there?
Has she been eating?

It definitely sounds like Sassy has a great team of experts there and it's great that there are many doctors there round the clock.

Looking at her just melts my heart, give her kisses from me and a big hug for you

I love the pictures of your pretty Sassy and you! I am encouraged by the news. Sounds like she has a great team of doctors helping her. Remember, doctors can be wrong at times if you get discouraging news. I have found that animals have a tremendous resiliancy when it comes to healing from injuries - especially when given lots of love and care (and prayers).
 
Cassie, you are the most incredible mom to Sassy and your special bond with her shines through the photos, especially the last one of you kissing her face. Thanks for sharing them with us and for letting us know how she is doing. I am so happy that she's started lifting her head!

I hope the scans go well and that Sassy continues to show signs of improvement. You both are in my thoughts and prayers.

CT and MRI scans came back. No mass in the head..so not brain tumor like doctor suspected. Was caused by hypo (like I thought). She has lots of water in the brain from the seizures. And it looks like she had a little stroke. But doctors are hopeful, they have upped her dose for shrinking brain swelling. And put her on diuretic to get water out. Sassy is a little grumpy today..which i think is good cause she is feeling more. The doctor said you will know if she will get better in a few days. She said vision coming back is 50/50. But said she should be able to walk again. She is having a big snooze on me at the moment.

I’m sure they will be able to get rid of the fluid on the brain with the diuretics.
I think being a bit grumpy is a good sign……..is she eating on her own yet.?
You must be absolutely exhausted from all the travel and stress!

I had a kitty who went blind from having undiagnosed high blood pressure and she was able to get around just fine as long as the furniture wasn’t moved around. In fact I didn’t even realise she was blind until I noticed her tail was always wet. So I followed her and as she went out the back door she turned left and almost fell into the pool…….and in went her tail. She was able to climb stairs….seemed to know how many there were. ….she was like that for about 3 years and lived to the age of 21.
Please give Sassy a big hug from me and tell her she is an amazing little kitty.
 
Cassie, be sure to get plenty of rest for yourself. This has been a stressful ordeal and her recovery will most likely bring its own stressors. Prayers are being offered up for you and Sassy daily. Keep us updated, please. :bighug::bighug:
 
I think it's a huge relief that she doesn't have any kind of a brain tumor. Thank you for the update. I stayed up late last night looking for an update. :) I also think the grumpiness is a good sign. As I think I said before, I had a cat who had a seizure and she went blind -- but she was able to recover her sight. My other cat had a stroke from high blood pressure and lost his sight. Both of those two cats who lost their sight did very well during the time they couldn't see. I was amazed at how quickly they learned to navigate around. I'll keep praying.
 
So happy to hear no brain tumor and that she is grumpy. That is much, much better than being limp and lifeless. I love the pictures of you and your precious girl. I'm sure she is feeling ALL your love. Thank you so much for keeping us updated. We will all continue to pray for the both of you and for the doctors treating your Sassy. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you for the update and to hear the doctors are hopeful. Your love for Sassy and her trust in you is so clear in these photos. Remember to take care of yourself, too. All good thoughts foryou both.
 
Also the doctors didn’t give her insulin last night cause she was around 54 when the shot should have been given. They haven’t fed her all day cause she was having the MRI. So today when her shot was due she was still 127 so we opted not to give the shot. They are feeding her royal canine weight management. So will check again tomorrow.
She isn’t eating on her own..still paralyzed, but can eat it you blend the food and feed to her in syringe.
