Gaysha has passed away on the 4th of April. She had to be put to sleep. It seems diabetes was only a symptom for something much more serious. She had wide spread lymphoma that probably got to her pancreas as well and hence the diabetes symptoms. She was very weak, hardly could walk and eating very little. She had x-ray and ecography which confirmed the diagnostic. Her kidneys were 5 times the normal size. The lymphoma most probably spread also to her optic nerve, since her right pupil was always much more dilated than the left one. She was a great friend and companion and I will always treasure her in my heart. Thank you all for all the help! Hope all your kitties live longer and healthier! When compared to a lymphoma, diabetes seems much more easy to handle. I wish I could have kept giving Gaysha insuline and testing her blood glucose for 10 more years.

Re: newly diagnosed, with neuropathy

Ana, my deepest sympathy on the loss of your precious Gaysha. There are those times when the first thing to show up is diabetes but it is actually the secondary disease to a much more serious problem. You did all that you could for her with the knowledge and info you had at the time and she knew she was loved. My heart goes out to you wings_cat

I am truly sorry for the loss of your sweet girl, Gaysha. So young to be taken from you, but I pray that your memories of her always linger in your heart.

I am very sorry for your loss. Revel in the happy years that you gave Gaysha and that she is free to fly.

I'm so sorry that the dx of diabetes was not the only thing you had to battle for your sweet Gaysha and that you had to say goodbye to her.

There never seems to be enough time to spend with them - I'm sending many consoling thoughts and prayers your way in your grief. Gaysha is flying free now - free of any pain - and that is because of the gift of freedom that you gave to her.

Thank you all for such nice words. They will help me to try to find some closure and relief the sadness I've been feeling. I miss Gaysha every day but I know she's somewhere better looking after me. Keep those needles pumping! Diabetes is not so scary after all.
