Stall without giving food and retest in 15-20 min. That will tell you if the numbers are dropping or rising.
I will try to help as much as I can, but honestly I have been out of the loop for a little over a year. Looking back over stickies to refresh my memory. Hopefully some other people will see your post as well.Ok will do! Thank you - will you be watching for me? I am so new to this i am panicking and don’t want him to have a low episode while at work. I ordered an auto feeder but its due to arrive Wednesday.
I agree with @Chubba (GA) . Are you using the AT2 meter or the human meter. Your SS has indicated some human meter numbers.
Yes TRLet us know the new number when you have retested. You are following TR correct?
That’s alright. We have all been there. It is super confusing and stressful at first, but it gets easier ... I promise.Yes TR
But to be honest I am so new not sure what I am doing in regards to TR

i leave In 2.5 hoursHow much testing can you do before you leave to work if you do shoot?

Since your auto feeder hasn’t arrive ... do you have any way of leaving food out? Will Orsen eat it all at once if left out?

So that number is basically the same with meter variance. It seems that if he is going to have an active cycle, his numbers are the same at +2 and drop around +3 which would be about the time you need to leave for work.![]()
Sorry. +2 means 2 hours after shot time. Active cycle means the kitty would drop down some.I am sorry-but I don’t know what you mean
162 is about the same number with meter variance. Since you have 2.5 hours to monitor before you go to work, you could shoot and then get a +2 and if that number is lower than the pre shot number it could indicate an active cycle . You could give him some MC to boost him up a bit as a cushion while you are at work.
He isn’t wanting to eat AND he eats all the time. I am not comfortable shooting if he doesn’t want to eat.MC - Medium carb food. It is higher percentage of carbs. I’ll see if I can find the percentage. HC is high carb.
LC - carbs are 10 percent or less
MC - carbs are 11-15 percent
HC - carbs are 16-24 percent
He isn’t wanting to eat AND he eats all the time. I am not comfortable shooting if he doesn’t want to eat.
If he is refusing to eat, I would be nervous about shooting and leaving him also.
If you can get him to eat, then shoot. If it is late when you shoot then the next shot is 12 hours later, so consider that for your schedule's sake.
Shooting a lower dose is not going to guarantee that he will stay safe because the depot of the higher dose will still be in effect the first 1/2 of the cycle.
Ideally, as time goes on and you get more data when shooting lower PRESHOT numbers (on weekends or days you can monitor), you will feel more comfortable with these decisions.
As far as shooting a lower dose, you do need to find a dose that you are able to give him twice a day. By skipping shots, it will make his depot unstable, which makes it harder to predict what his cycles will look like.
I’m going to tag @Wendy&Neko. She was wonderful in helping me when I was new to the board.
It is always concerning when we feel something is wrong with our fur babies. Then you add diabetic and a kitty who never refuses food and it takes on a whole new level of worry. But even kitties who never refuse food can be picky for any number of reasons. Sending vines (typo for good vibes - that stuck) for whatever is bother him to pass quickly. The diabetic kitty bond that you will form with your kitty is a strong one ... and while it comes with so much worry and struggles ... I wouldn’t change having that experience for the world. It brought me so much closer to Gizmo and gave us an extraordinary bond.Thank you. I don’t know why he isn’t wanting to eat. This concerns me more I think.

Sorry I stepped outside for a bit to weed. Yuck!Yes it is!
He is playful and seems fine-but I think he is sick of canned food. And even though he has a huge appetite (hes a big cat) he can't eat the large amount of canned in 1 sitting.
He takes forever. I could shoot up till about 7/leave for work at 9am. What do you think
I THINK I AM GOING TO DOSE HIM
CONTACTED THE VET-SHE SAID LIMITED BREAKFAST GIVE 1.5
BETTER THAT THEN TO DEPLETE THE DEPOT
I WILL HANG OUT UNTIL 9:30AM
I GAVE HIM SOME DRY PURINA DIABETIC KIBBLE
AND WILL RETEST BEFORE I GOT.

Here is the one I have. Actually have 2 of them. Can monitor the bunny area and the kitty area.
They are motion activated and will send you a notification on your phone if you set them up to. You can also record, but I haven’t messed much with those features. I just check in every once in a while to see that everyone is still breathing. Lol. They also seem to constantly update the app with improvements. So affordable! I like the idea of this, there ha been quite a bit of cat puke lately but I’m not sure which cat it is .. Nyx, Mowgli? Both? I think a camera could help me get to the bottom of this![]()
I use the Pet Cube-it shoots treats as wellOoo you even have me interested in a camera! @Penelope and Mačka what camera do you use? It’s Amazon Prime days!!
Hi @Edye ,
Not sure if it's a good idea or if it's going to add to your worries. I am a HUGE worrier, and so I have installed a camera in the living room that I can monitor from work/wherever I am. It will not tell me if my cat is in hypo, hyper, etc but I can see if he's breathing, if he's confortable, or agitated. That gives me more peace of mind.
I also just bought a microchip feeder, but still needs to train Macka how to use it.
Thank you Amanda99 is still a safe number but I understand your concern with such a drop, I will tag a few members that have a little more experience but I'm not sure if they will be on today to have a look. If you decide to go to work maybe try leaving out some MC it might help slow him down.
@Bobbie And Bubba @Sienne and Gabby (GA) if you guys are available would you be able to provide some advice for Edye?
Pet cubes are awesomeI use the Pet Cube-it shoots treats as well
I am new to the message board-just trying to figure it out. Also, when you get a new test number, could you post it instead of just updating the title ... especially if needing advice. I only get alerts when a post is made. I just happened to notice the title change.
