Most times when we took Rover outside, he wanted to head due south. A straight line thru neighbours' backyards, thru strangers' backyards … He never stopped to look at anything. He didn't turn his head right or left. He had a mission. We kept telling him that in a very short distance he would be stopped by a lake. Even showed him the lake. He was undeterred. Us humans are none too smart. It took us awhile to suss that Rover was a closet Elvis fan and was headed for Graceland.

Oh, sweet Rover, fly free. cat_wings>o

Red, I am so sorry for your loss. Rover knows how much you love him. :bighug:

I hope your "Burning Love" for Rover and warm, tender memories of him help you to check out of the "Heartbreak Hotel" soon
(I hope this wasn't in bad taste) I want to express my sympathy to you for losing Rover - many hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am so sad to learn of Rover's crossing. You were a very loving bean and gave him everything he could possibly need or want.

Fly free, Rover, and land softly. There will be many of our beloved GAs waiting to welcome you to the bridge.
:rb_icon:

I am so, so sorry. Truly, Rover will find "grace" at Graceland. No doubt, he is searching out all of our kitties who have preceded him to the Bridge. He will not be lonely. He'll just be waiting to be reunited with you at the Bridge.

(((Red))) I am so sorry it was Rover's time to head south for the final time. You did an amazing job caring for him.
Fly free Rover, send you loving bean a message when youvw made it to the Bridge. cat_wings>o I will look to the stars tonight. Undoubtably there will be an extra bright new one shining high above us.

((RED))) So sorry to hear that Rover has chosen to go to Graceland and on to the Bridge. He is now free of pain. Hold his wonderful memories close to your heart to give you peace and strength at this sad sad time. :rb_icon:

There will be a welcome party for Rover tonight at the Bridge, and all of our GAs will keep him company until that wonderful day when you will meet again. Fly free, sweet Rover! You are much loved. cat_wings>o

In deepest sympathy,
Ella & Edward, Rusty, and Stu (GA)

CKD at that level ..It was fantastic that you saved him for so long. Now he's hangin' out with Elvis and purring an accompaniment to "Don't Step on my Blue Suede Shoes", while flapping his tail to keep the rhythm.

You'll join him, not soon, but when it's time.

So sorry to hear that Rover's time had come to leave you

I've enjoyed getting to know you both and it was obvious how much you loved him!

Fly free sweet Rover and land softly!
you always said I was your angel...now it's time to get my wings.jpg

Oh...
I didn't know this had happened.....
I'm so sorry... prayers and hugs for your grieving heart.
Mine will be there to greet him as well....
Fly Free Rover.....

Oh Red, I have a heavy heart when I read about you losing Rover!! Your care for him was so evident! He knew and felt your love and greatly benefitted from all the things you did to manage his CKD and diabetes. I hope you find comfort that so many of us understand ... And hoping that Rover sends you a sign. :joyful: Love is forever.

I'm sorry that it was Rover's time. May he fly free and enjoy the King's company until you're reunited some day!

I am so sorry to hear that it was Rover's time to leave. Hold close and cherish all your wonderful memories of your time together, and know that he will live forever in your heart. Fly free, beloved Rover, and land softly back in the hearts of those who love you cat_wings>o

I'm so sorry it was Rover's time to cross. Fly free Rover, and land softly. Sending hugs and healing light. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you all for your kind words. Apologies for not being online. DH and I are still devastated. Rover and DH were the best of buddies. I've done nothing but sleep (14 hours last night) and watch a bit of the UK Henleys online. One of the high school kids I used to carpool up to the boathouse at 4:30 in the mornings is competing.

When I get the energy, there will be what when I put it all together seems like an enormous amount of diabetic and kidney gear up for grabs, though I'm leery of mailing Lantus during the summer when it might sit in a hot truck for hours/days. Food and some of the medical stuff will go to the local no-kill shelter.

Look at those whiskers and hairy feet! People always asked if he was a Maine Coon. While he had some characteristics, I doubt it. He was born in a local dumpster on July 1st. Call it "Canada Day" if you will, but really, the entire country gets the day off tomorrow complete with fireworks in honour of Rover's birthday.

What a handsome boy. Amazing who you can find in a dumpster. :cat:

Oh my goodness what a gorgeous fuzzy belly! I'll happily celebrate Rover's birthday tomorrow. Sending you best wishes, and hopes for soft sweet memories of your lovely kitty.
