AMPS this morning was 18.7 (337), so seems the 1 drop was not doing much, so I have increased to 0.05 units (half way up the zero line)
So, yesterday I saw my original vet as there are only two of them who can administer Teddy's chemo and one was off. I really like her but her diabetes knowledge is patchy to say the least. I had a pleasant surprise though. The other vet who put Rom on Lantus had put the link to his spreadsheet in the permanent notes and she had to call him to see how it worked and understand it. It seems she was scared of it and what I was doing. Once she understood, she was ecstatic and really impressed with how well Rom was doing. On to his eye.... it was so swollen she could not really see it. His whole cheek is swollen, so she thinks it could be a tooth abcess as his tooth is really bad under it. But it could be something simple like a grass seed. At the moment, she is treating the symptoms hoping the swelling will go down. If it doesn't then he will have to go under anaesthetic and be examined properly and they will do his teeth at the same time. Then came the shocker and I can't believe I missed this. He has lost 2kg!! He is a really big boned cat and doesn't appear any smaller but I had realised I could feel his backbone. I feel so bad but the vet said I have more than enough to cope with with two diabetics and a cancer kitty. She thinks it may be thyroid but has taken a blood test to be sure. Kidneys being checked too. She will phone with results today. He has been given painkillers, antibiotics and eye drops and I have to go back Thursday. She is hopeful that if it is tooth related, he will go into remission as he keeps teasing me with it.
