Does anyone know, generally speaking, how long it takes to heal stomatitis after teeth have been pulled? Thanks.

This can very per kitty since all react differently. Is your kitty on an antibiotic like clyindomyacin?

For most kitties, when all the teeth are pulled, most of the inflammation goes away. From what I have read, sometimes there will be a slight remnant of the inflammation, and you still may require a round of mouth antibiotics once or twice a year. I would expect the inflammation to be mostly gone within a month, as long as you are giving an antibiotic too. Remember the tooth sockets have to heal in addition to the inflammation to go down.

He was on an antibiotic for 2 weeks, but not now. It's a little over 2 weeks since they've been pulled (not all his teeth) and he still has some trouble eating, although there is improvement.

Are you assist feeding him orally by syringe to prevent weight loss?

What about trying wet food watered down a bit and blended so he can lap it up? This is how I got Maverick eating wet food after 12 years of kibble.

Hugs.

actually, he eats quite well. Only occasional episodes of gagging. I think he's gained weight!! His throat is still red, but I don't think as red as it was. I guess time will tell.
